Sorry for all the fidgeting and not looking at the lens. Was really weird for me to talk about. Also, sorry for having you listen to me complain for 10 minutes. ALSO, love you.

Jake I would literally wait 10 years for a video from you. Just make sure you focus on your health; mental and physical!

Stick with it Jake. As a viewer, I choose quality over quantity 👌🏻

This is actually a very good insight into how Youtube is currently fundamentally biased, proposing quantity vs. quality. It really is a shame... Thank you for speaking out Jake.

" While burnout obviously has something to do with stress, overdoing things, not being centred, and not listening to yourself or your body, one of the deepest contributors to burnout, I believe, is the deep disappointment of not living up to your true calling, which is who you want to be.”

Your videos on this channel often make me reflect on many things. And that's really nice.
Even if they can be inconsistent at times, they do help a lot.

I wish other Youtubers can be this honest. I hate how the world works man. I've been watching since day one, and I'm never gonna stop.

Despite never having met, These videos make me feel connected to you in a "friend I haven't been able to see in a long time" kind of way.
Keep rocking, man.
With or without us, you'll do great things.

Jake, speaking for myself personally, the reason I subscribed to this channel was *not* for “more VSauce content”. After discovering you through VSauce, I became interested in you as a person - not just for the content you produce. I feel that most of the people on this channel feel the same way. You don’t have to apologize to us when you do a video like this one to get something off your chest.

At least my take on it is: I am happy to be here to listen when you need to do one of these type of videos. On VSauce 3 you are there for us; on this channel we are here for you.

I'm new to this channel, though I have been following Vsauce3 for some time now and I think, of the 3, I far prefer yours.
While you all talk about fascinating topics and questions, yours just has so much more cinematography put into it. And, I can see why - I can see that your passionate and you take a lot of pride and joy in it - and you should, the quality is fantastic. I've always had a very vivid imagination - which is why I LOVE books (and want to write them someday) - but, I'm just not very good at bringing my imagination to life at all, but you ARE. Like, the little jokes/puns and the creative (camera) cuts and things you do on Vsauce3 - they're all the exact kind of humor that I have, enjoy, and (tbh) feel is rather underappreciated.
Put simply, your work is greatly noticed and appreciated.
Now, on another, deeper, note: you seemed to put yourself down - or referred to have done so - a time or two in the vid. That being said, if there's anything I relate to, it's putting ourselves down.
There was a period in my life (roughly 6 years) where I was depressed and absolutely hated myself. Like, excuse the french but, I beat the SH!T out of myself mentally. And, I'm at a little over a year now being passed all of that but, I still definitely relate and know how that felt and, from having gone through that, I often surprise myself with how well I'm (usually) able to help someone work through their thoughts and why they think the way they do about things (as well as themselves).
So, I know you get literally thousands of comments on each video and, as a result, there's a good chance you won't read this but, if you do and ever feel like talking about anything (creative ideas/stories (fictional or real-life)/actual life/etc.) for whatever reason ( need someone that won't judge/ bored/games/ curiosity?? - idk, but you get the idea - ) I'm here in and for support, as I'm sure many, many of us are.
- A Fan.

Totally get how you feel man. Occupational hazard: passion to create is turned into responsibilities and deadlines.

It’s a shame to see these high quality youtubers being in such a position. Jake, if you need to step away to gain your motivation that’s completely fine and always remember, thanks for uploading. *vsauce outro*

Jake you're only human. The people that are here, are here because they care about you. Take your time, do what you want to do. I know you've probably heard that a million times before but I really hope that you do just do what makes you happy. As a community we really value you. I'm gonna be here to watch all of your content whether it takes 2 weeks or 2 years inbetween videos. What matters is your ideas and your creativity. I can personally say that your videos have inspired me so much in terms of my own creativity and thought process. You are really an inspiration Jake. Keep being you and take as much time as you need. See you later (you are pretty darn awesome)!

I'm identifying with you 100% on this issue. The pressure to perform and placate is immense. My sculptures cost a lot in materials and loads of time, not including the video creation process. I'm exhausted, and trying to keep up with a post rate to keep sponsors happy, and try to predict characters to make that will trend hard enough to generate the money to pay for the materials, is just brutal. There's a load of sculpts I want to make, but I know won't generate the views or attention to pay for their creation. So I got stuck trying to make things faster and faster, sometimes even making characters I wasn't passionate about creating. I'm trying to transition over to a situation where I'm selling my work and relying on that as primary income to support the craft, rather than be restricted to what's popular and will satisfy sponsors.
So, you're not alone in your discomfort and reasons for it. Still trying to figure all this out myself (how to find a satisfying negotiated position between the channel demands and the work itself). Update us again on how this situation evolves. I'd like to know if you discover some solutions, and that can help some of us others that are feeling the same way.
