I love doing a 36 hr fast! I call it my “power fast”- nothing compares to how amazing I feel the next morning waking up from that fast, so energized, clear minded (zero brain fog) and that unexplainable sense of calm. I do them each week simply because I love it, not for any sort of punishment but rather the exact opposite. I guess the power fast just agrees with me. And the best part is along with the 20hr fast I dropped 30 stubborn menopause pounds. If I feel off or need to “reset” coming off a holiday or vacation I lean into the power fast as part of my exit strategy. ❤🎉

As someone who has lost 30kg doing a combination of intermittent fasting and extended fasting (AND kept it off for 1.5 years) I can say confidently the weight loss you experience with extended fasting is definitely NOT just the weight of the food in your stomach - with an extended fast you are in a deep fat-burning for a lot longer so you definitely burn a lot of fat. I do one 44 hour fast most weeks and I find it very sustainable and just part of my lifestyle. Mondays I'm too busy to eat anyway running the kids around to sport so it's so effortless for me to just skip dinner that night.

THANK YOU!!! I'm 72 yrs old, and you just described years of my own struggle not only to lose lbs but to * just feel good*! I discovered you and tried 20hrs. Eureka! I love this. Over a period of a few mos I've gone from 22 to a 16 and counting. But most important I FEEL great, the best I have in ions - at 72!! I find it very manageable, and I agree it's not only a physical but mental change too. I love it!! Thanks Dy Ann ❤

I'm 66. I fast 36hrs every Monday. I'm fasting today. I am losing weight, and yes I drop on Mondays and slowly gain part of it back during the week. I'm expecting it as part of the method I've chosen so I don't feel any discouragement over it. I'm retired and my husband and I totally have this worked out. So, why do I bother with the 36hr fast? The benefits of autophagy, yes, but more important for me is how it affects my overall calorie reduction for the week. I eat about 1600 calories per day. To lose a pound of fat I need to reduce my calorie consumption or be in a caloric deficit of 3600 calories. If I eliminate the 1600 calories I would normally consume on Mondays, that means I only have to be in a caloric deficit of 340 calories per day for the other 6 days of the week to achieve a 1lb per week loss. I'm actually doing better than that per week, but I would be happy with 1lb. I did, formerly, IF 16-8 everyday, but I don't do that any longer because it's just too hard, as a senior, to consume the right amount of protein in that time frame. I do not OMAD or 2MAD any longer either because too much protein is lost in the urine if consumption is done all at once. It is far better to spread it out over the day in 3 meals, or 3 meals and 1 snack. Getting the protein in to prevent muscle loss should be the absolute priority for physical and mental longevity. It is for me, even if it means reducing the fasting window. Now, I aim for a 12/12 daily IF, 8am to 8pm, so I can get in all the protein I need. I exercise or do some activity daily, usually for several hours as I love to garden. Strength training is a priority, again for preventing muscle loss. I also do Keto, trying to end my eating window daily before 8PM, and I go to bed at or near 10pm so I can get 7-8 hours sleep. The only day it "feels" like I'm fasting at all is on Mondays (so, from 8pm Sunday, which is after dinner, until 8am Tuesday, when I have breakfast) and I can easily handle that. It could be any day, but Monday fits my schedule best. I don't have to even think about what to eat on Mondays, and hubby gets to decide and prepare for himself whatever he wants to eat, even foods I won't normally eat, so he's happy too. I've lost over 50lbs at just over 1lb per week. I'm not finished yet, I still have a good way to go, but at last this is a lifestyle I can live with long term.

I’m 65 and started fast 20:4 and I’m losing approximately 5 lbs a month.
Watched your older videos and decided to give it a try. Finally found something that works.
Thank you.

My fasting window bounces between 18-20. I’ve done 24 and 36. I prefer the 18-20 for me- it fits my daily lifestyle.

Hi it’s Levinia.I have found I would binge after work, so fasting after lunch without question allows me to sit in piece as you say.xx❤

I am 67 and need to lose about 50 pounds. I stopped 16:8 fasting and of course, all the weight returned-the story of my life. I lost maybe 10 pounds and then came to a dead halt but what was really noticeable is that my metabolism began to slow. Once I began eating again-very low carb but I eat them, I began to lose and my energy returned, so I feel like exercising. Fasting for weight loss isn't for me but using it with the idea of health and healing, then I'll do it sparingly.

I don't lose with 20 hr daily ones. I only see downeard trend when i do these. Also yoi dont have to do them forever. If you have issues with insulin and blood sugar and menopause some of us need longer fasts to get at fat store. Dr Fung and others all say that these are good. Not everyone can do just 20 and lose. I wish was that way but its not unfortunately

I want to do some extended fasts.
Mentally I want to achieve it.
But I just don't thrive there.
Its so personal and unique.
Beyond 20 hours metabolically I start reducing my needs. That dreaded metobolic slow down. Not healthy. I can see it and feel it.
I seem to thrive the best 16 hours IF one hours IF the next.
You make me so calm and strong Di xx

I like the sustainability of 20 hour fast as my baseline. On occasion to do a longer fast can be helpful when aiming for some of those goals it provides...but it's important to have a plan for BEFORE and AFTER, by itself is not a solution. Love your program and the personal support you provide. Thank you for sharing your expertise! 💗

Love this so much! 20 hour fasting and listening to your wisdom and my body is helping to heal my body and my relationship with food.

DyAnn!! This is such good information! I am back to baseline after a binge ‘season’. Too much long term fasting ‘caused’ me to binge the entire month of April and lose my amazing gains. So, I am back to baseline: LCHF & IF and my hormones are responding, weight is decreasing, and the inflammation is gone. Keep saving the world, ma’am! 😘

Jan 2023 grad here! Jump into Dy Ann's awesome class! It changed my life and it can change your life too!

Dy Ann, I agree with you, for me, the 20-hour fast is perfect! I've tried fasting for more than 24 hours and it doesn't work for me! I get too hungry and light headed.

👋🏼 hi … thank you for this video. Fortunately, I do not have a problem with a 36 hour fast because it does not interfere with my lifestyle AND because I have finally experienced the energized sense of calm during my usual 20:4 fasting protocol. Knowing that my body is undergoing cellular changes during that time is exciting to me. It is so true that if we do not make mental and emotional changes regarding food no matter the diet.. the weight WILL MOST DEFINITELY return with extra. Thank you for your patience knowledge and support 😊

I'm a dedicated 20:4 lifestyle gal. Doing the odd 26 hr fast. I don't know if I could do a 36 hour fast or I'd see a real benefit....for me. Kudos to those who find it beneficial. The great thing with IF is pick a schedule that works for your life.

Hi Dy Ann! Thank you soooo much for posting this-you literally read my mind! I find the 20-23 hour fast very doable but when we are talking longer fasts and down
Days it really interferes with my quality of life and puts me in a binge and food obsessed state. I was going to actually email you about longer fasts but you beat me to it 😂. So looking forward to starting class soon and I’m excited that I took the plunge and signed up a few days ago❤

Fast Clean Feast Clean no matter the fasting model. The different ADF models are extreme, “eat what ever you want” or “only eat 500 calories in your feasting window” ridiculous.
