I think you are correct in that when they see you look sad or let down that they find some joy or at least the feeling they have the upper hand. Hateful people. They choose you because you are amazing and then criticize every single thing about you until the point you don’t even trust yourself or believe in who you are anymore.

One of the many incidents were when my mom asked if she can take a bite out of my ice cream / we were in a car she was at the back / and she taunted me as she finished the whole ice cream - I was 7

She laughed as I cried - just could not trust or believe it / I saw how she derived so much pleasure out of it & told my relatives that I was such a bad loser & did not respect my mom enough.

Yes I have experienced this and decided to say goodby😉 Told here have fun with your own life and other boyfriends. My energy source will be closed 😉 Than blocked here and all relations of here. Next I deleted all pictures and communications. This gave me so much releave . Next step is the recovery and learn how to avoid this kind of creatures

It used to really make me feel bewildered when I saw the sick and inappropriate pleasure in their eyes. It made absolutely no sense that those emotions would be visible considering that they supposedly “loved” me…but there finally came the day when I understood what was true.

My mom laughs at me when I tell her how badly I hurt because of her. I honestly think she won't be happy until I'm dead. I told her today I won't mourn her when she dies, I'll mourn the mom I never had, just like when her mom died.
