Out of all the types, the Covert has to be the most dangerous and damaging because it takes so long to unmask them. I have been plagued by this type my whole life, but not any I pray for freedom for anyone on this platform suffering from a Covert Narcissist or any other type of Narcissist for that matter.

They have that fake concern for you when they have an audience. It’s part of their cover-up so that others don’t see them in a bad light; a ruse to make YOU the “problem, ” and them the “savior.”

Sneaky, secret addiction, words not matching actions, all of them, what confused me was that he seemed caring and not arrogant as the other type of narcissists, covert are the worst type because sometimes you don't know you are dealing with one until they discard you in the coldest way

When out with friends, they make everyone else think they are head over heels in love with you, hugging, kissing my forehead, bragging to everyone that I'm simply the greatest. But once you're home, not a peep. Its as if you are invisible. Sometimes I actually think that maybe I died and I'm just a spirit in the room. That is how lonely it is with a CN.

Actually a Covert Narcissist is known to be a great listening. This is distinct with them and what reels others in. As a matter of fact they are almost always known for how well the listen. the problem? They are listening so closely to find things they can use and/or manipulate to damage you.

My covert narcissist also had the characteristic of subtle community manipulation. She would pass along information about others in order to make herself appear concerned and compassionate while at the same time she gathered the dirt on other people and had a very well hidden hatred and/or contempt for people; her image was that of superiority over other people (i.e. haughty).

The covert narcissist that I was encountered with fooled me for 13 years until she showed her true colors to me. These people are dangerous!

The nagging feeling that something isn't right and they're hiding something. I've shared this only with the few people who know we've been in a relationship, and even explaining it myself to the people I trust who are supposed to support & KNOW me, they have ALL treated me like I'm fn paranoid. My mother, also a Narc, said to knock it off with all the paranoia or I'm going to lose him. She is cold and unempathetic. My male friend heard me reacting to the Narc on a recording and told me i sound like I'm provoking him and so did my male cousin. My cousin actually said "if i ever dated anyone who talked to me the way you talk to him I"d never fn talk to her again.

People who don't even KNOW him feel sorry for him and think it's my fault. The rage attacks against me have made me ready to fight or bust him doing something at any moment. I don't care if i sound paranoid-- only other victims understand what gaslighting and reactive abuse really does to you. I swear he screams at me so bad I go into instant panic, and then he disappears for days. Their response if I tell them that? "Well why do you stay?"

Narcissism is not toxic. It is lethal to your very existence and entire perception of reality.

My covert narcissist will never see himself for who he is. He genuinely thinks he's a good person and has a normal emotional regulation system. He thinks it's his right to be angry and outburst a lot. He asked me to be more intimate with him this weekend and i had to laugh 😂. Because no. I don't ever want to sleep with you if you're not being a real adult.

I've also noticed their emotions are the opposite of mine. When I'm miserable they're happy, and when I'm happy, they're miserable. I call my former house mate Backwards Man. It's as if he's from a different planet where normal decorum is the opposite of this planet. Over there, people failing or dying is funny, and people succeeding is a very solemn and serious matter.

Short, and to the point! Thank you! At 75 I finally figured out why my sister complained and played the victim card her entire life, yet never lifted a finger to change any of it. Now, no contact and loving the peace and restful sleep!
