This is brilliant! Thank you for posting this. I tend to collect broken devices for their electronic components but will always keep an eye out to harvesting magnets as well. Now to watch your project videos for practical use cases.

I too have a magnet collection, but rather than scavenging them from devices I use my uncle's old magnet finder device to hunt them from ground 😂, it's only around 1-2 kg

Thanks for the info. I was looking to see if there was an easier process to get neos out of speaker cups... The medium to big ones. After using acetone to dissolve the glue I end up having to use a hacksaw to cut the back off or another stronger magnet on the front and a flat head to pry and keep it on the magnet without getting sucked back in to the cup.

I have pulled magnets out of old hard drives. They are very strong. I sometimes use them to find tiny screws that I have dropped on the floor. You can use some of the smaller ones inside sockets to hold nuts that you can't reach by hand. I forgot about the other places to get magnets like speakers, etc. Thanks for the video.

This was really well done considering your budget. I'm so sad that marketing has replaced so much of the quality that made early youtube so good.

What would you recommend for the occasional power magnet found on refrigerator magnets? I have a few I thrifted and want to use for my projects but I’m having trouble fighting the adhesive and in one case the metal wraps around the magnet so it’s flush.

Well this is a relief, I thought I was the only one who scavenges for magnets… Obviously there are many other sources but the one I’ll include with this comment is mostly for guys, because girls likely are already aware. Women’s purses and wallets typically have magnets.
