You could be getting an inaccurate reading of your blood pressure...

An inaccurate reading of just of your blood pressure can be the deciding factor of whether you have to go on a blood pressure medication or not.

To make you get the most accurate reading possible... here are a few ways you can instantly reduce your blood pressure naturally:

What is MY normal?

120/80 is not the proper blood pressure for everyone.

The reason I state this is because recommendations are 120 systolic blood pressure over 80 diastolic blood pressure. Where the problem comes in is that everyone is put into a bucket, saying, “This is exactly what your blood pressure is supposed to be.”

However there is a bell curve, some of you are going to be lower than that while others will be higher. It seems as if everyone is treated as if they should fall right in the middle.

Measure:

How you measure your blood pressure is very important. Let me give you a couple of key tips that you always want to use, especially to try to avoid “white coat syndrome.” This is when you go to a doctor and get scared, and your blood pressure is higher. Then they assume that you have high blood pressure.

One reading, one time is a poor way to judge your blood pressure.

I would suggest:

Measure daily at the same time. Measure your blood pressure over one to three weeks and chart it. This way, you can have an idea of the trends of what made it go up, what made it go down, and what’s affecting it.
Use the same arm. There’s about a 10-15 point blood pressure drop based on the right to left arm. This is because the heart begins on the left side.
Use the same position. Your blood pressure changes depending on if you are sitting, standing, or laying. The same applies to your arm up, down, or bent. Chart it the same way each time.

You’ll want to do it the same way every time. I also recommend that you do it at the same time of day so you can actually see is there a trend. Is it actually high? Or is it that you just had a hectic day? Or did that doctor stress you out? If you conclude that you do have a blood pressure problem, then you must get to the causes.

One of the worst things you can do is tell your doctor or nurse that you saw a doctor on Youtube who suggested you try something other than what they do conventionally. They quickly dismiss you and even suggest negative comments about people who listen to those on the internet. Yes, you can ask the tech/nurse to check your blood pressure with your right arm and having it at an L angle but the chances of them complying is very slim and will even chastise you for asking and will respond with, they have been doing this for a lot of years and know what they are doing. They tell me to just relax my arm in my lap so it is just dangling during the reading; the nurse says it is fine to do it that it doesn't affect the reading. My doctor told me to chart my bp each morning at the same time and come back after two weeks; I did and he quickly then dismissed the numbers when my bp was much higher during their reading in that morning's office visit. He suggested I had either done the charting incorrectly or that I had "fudged" the numbers. I was so surprised and even angry that he would suggest that. Yep, that is another reason I am seriously considering finding a doctor that will listen to me.

I have been a nurse for over 40 years and have used the same breathing technique you have talked about in our clinic. Anyone who is on blood pressure meds, I get them to breathe along with me b4 I take their blood pressure. 99% have within normal limits after showing them how to breathe throughout the day!

I have 2 nephews, each in their 50's, that are on BP meds. Sending this link to them to encourage them to get off Meds ASAP. Me? I'm sneaking up on 70, normal BP, excellent cholesterol #s! maybe 10lbs overweight, but active and healthy! EVOO and Coconut oils, real foods, nothing out of a box or can, basically shop the outside aisle of the market. Luv your channel, using your Omega w/ Turmeric. Yes, I had mild hypertension, 140/90 and my doctor prescribed Lisinopril for a number of years. I have it under control and no longer on meds. Thanks Dr. Livingood

My Daughter and i have been dealing with being over weight and having high blood pressure. She is on a beta blocker. I measured on my left arm like you recommended in the video. I did the breathing exercise and you are correct, I instantly dropped 10 points. Thank you Dr. Livingood. I definitely have white coat syndrome. I will try the breathing exercises the next time I go to the doctor.

I have a glitch in my autonomic nervous system which causes occasional HBP spikes. Doctors had me on all kinds of BP meds for ten years that never helped. I became allergic to them all. Surprisingly, a new cardiologist told me about the pace breathing exercises and said I needed to learn how to meditate and do the breathing exercises when I have a spike. It works!! I also was never told that because I eat a healthy diet and walk every day, at age 69 my heart is very healthy like a 30 year old. New doc said that I would not be in danger of having a heart attack or stroke when I have a BP spike. Doctors before never told me that, so I was having a panic attack every time I had a BP spike that would send my BP even higher and to the ER! So now I don't panic, I do the pace breathing exercises and meditate.... it works. Would love to know some of your other natural remedies, Dr. Livingood. Thanks for all the healthy info you provide for us!! Got your book in 2020 and it has been wonderful!

I have CONSISTELY Hi Blood Pressure, especially after the INJUSTICE/DISCRIMINATION done to me on my job, before that, my BP ran LOW! When I finally visited a Dr., he was SURPRISED that I had NOT suffered a STROKE or Heart Attack, but I KNEW that it was ALL MENTAL, As I have a great DIET! Being Black and having suffered so much discrimination during my working years is the reason why, along with have a cheating EX, RAISING TWO SONS DURING THEIR CHALLENGING YEARS, I believe accounts for ALL of it!
I have to admit, I learned about these breathing exercises, but ONLY USE THEM before my Dr's visit, NEVER on a DAILY BASIS! Now that I have listened to your video, I WILL exercise these breathing methods DAILY!
I have the MOST AWESOME SON'S & DIL who forward this video to me, THEY ARE THE BEST! I feel like I am the LUCKIEST MOTHER ON THIS PLANET!

Oh WOW! I've had the information for years & added more bits & pieces as I try to get my health under control, but just needed to know how to put it all together...such as if I'm on a diuretic (hctz), I need to take more potassium...but how much? You told me, not my doctor. I'm low in D, even though I take 10, 000 mg D3 everyday, but you told me I needed to take vitamin K with it to be effective against calcium being driven into my bloodstream. I've been on a calcium channel blocker for years, & now my doctor has prescribed another blood pressure medication plus a statin drug for cholesterol control. I cried when I read the side effects of those drugs because they were the same symptoms that I'm already experiencing in my body now! Since the '70s I have been trying to learn all I could about healthy living, sometimes my efforts were rewarded, but information was scarce & doctors' advice was often intimidating & limited to prescription medications for everything, with no explanation or warning of what these drugs could do or how they could make you feel. Thank you for expanding my knowledge...and confidence!...even in this short video. I'm 70 years old (or young!) now, although people are quite surprised when they guess my age to be many years younger. I really don't want to find suddenly that the years have caught up with me & that I must depend on someone else to take care of me. I hope to continue learning more from your videos & other materials that you have graciously offered to your viewers. I’m taking beta blockers and I really want to get off of them. I’ve already lost 20 lbs. & I’m committed to doing whatever I need to do to be healthy without drugs. The one thing I’m going to do this week is eat more leafy greens. I learned a lot from your videos! Thank you.

I loved your video. Your dad would be very proud of you! I cried when I saw your video because it reminded me of my dad. I am 75 yrs. old and my dad died at 49 yrs old, that was about 50 yrs ago, he was my best friend. They didn't have the knowledge they have now.
