Even if you live alone, make it a habit to set the table for yourself and not eat in front of the TV, or with an electronic device by your side. Use your best china. I eat all my meals at the dining room table set as if the Queen herself was coming over for lunch/dinner.

The kitchen reset is truly a good thing to do. There is nothing better than turning on the kitchen light to a clean shiny sink.

Problem I have is not the television but the time I spend watching YouTube videos; one after another one, after another one, after another one. It is ridiculous the amount of time I waste when I could be more productive in my life.

Old habits are hard to break and I justify them by thinking, "well, I worked hard all my life so now that I'm retired, I can do anything I want." Wrong thinking 😩. Thank you, Mr. Becker, for your videos. They are an inspiration to me. Greetings from West Texas 🌞🌵🌻

The habit of writing daily can be through reading few lines from the Bible then choose the word that touches you then write a letter to God.. I started to write 1 sentence.. then 2 sentences .. then it became by time a conversation from heart. . where you can receive also God's loving response in your heart. .
I've never thought to reach this when I started. . and even did not know it can happen. . But everyone on this earth can start just like this and find the endless God love waiting for him .. a way that no one of us can ever imagin. .
Just start and keep going .. whenever missed a day never get upset.. just continue and you will see the results yourself and see how much God is very near..
Lastly, when you accidentally read an old letter to God years ago.. you will be astonished that realize that you already became living many of the spritual things you prayed for & God has responded very smoothly and no single prayer has passed without being listened to with great care by our father the Holy God. .

Bathroom shower tip habit : Many years ago I became a bit frustrated by my shower growing mildew. Even with a vent fan on a timer it still needed more. After researching on youtube I found a tip about squeegeeing the walls off every day after your shower. The video said that at 1st this would be a chore but with time would become a habit. I purchased squeegee and gave it a shot. I had to think about it at 1st every time but many years later I simply can not step out of the shower now without doing my squeegee routine. ( When I travel it's a bit weird not doing it ) The 1st. steps of starting a new positive habit payed off completely. I know this idea of starting a new habit works. Try it in your shower. You'll see if you give it a chance.

I started a gratitude alarm in my phone, 4x/day. Whichever family members are with me, we all go around and say one thing we're grateful for. In two weeks I have noticed my heart and mind so much lighter and joyful.

You are so right Joshua! I started cleaning the garage 20 minutes a day (it was awful) now I can walk through it and be proud of all my work! I am so grateful for you!

All the benefits you mentioned when you quit TV also began for me when I (the mom) completely quit alcohol. I used to wait all day for that first glass of wine. 4 years ago I stopped (very difficult) and my entire life changed and our family life. We do still watch TV as a family but I'm not downing wine now and to bed after, tired. We might play a board game after a show! Also, no hangovers.

I write a letter to my husband every day. He died in Feb and I find this helps.I also write a letter to God. It’s my way of praying. I’m bad at oral prayers.

I make sure my sink is totally empty before bed. Drying it if I remember. Shiny sink in morn.

I break down my chores into Days the way Mama did. Mon is dust and vac.Tue is laundry, Wednesday is windex, Thur is trash day and mopping. Friday is ironing or mending.

I’m 79 so exercise always pulls something so I just move as much as I can. Never sitting for long.

I'm an older person, I do most of these daily. I have outlived my family and have been single for decades. On Sundays I prepare a nice meal, sit at the table and stumble down memory lane. This meal usually gives me four or five additional meals that go into the freezer so I can pop them in the microwave and have a nice meal daily.

I already do most of these, within my life but I'm giving up smoking next week, I am getting everything in place to help ....

Wish me luck

Everytime we eat our evening meal, my husband + I click glasses + kiss + say thank you for this lovely dinner to whomever cooked it. We have been married 42 years + I'd marry him again tomorrow ❣️

simple habits that changed my life:

- Eat breakfast. Always used to skip it. Now I don’t go without it, found it’s the ideal time for me to eat very healthy and get a lot of veggies in. Feel more energized for entire day and tend to eat healthier all day too!

- Meditating daily after shower for at least 10-20 minutes. Made a world of difference in emotional regulation and self critical talk. It’s also made me more present in daily life.

- Prayer. I am not religious but I find prayer is a great time to think of the ones you love and to say thanks. This is my gratitude practice I suppose. Feel a lot more appreciative of everything now.

Just watching this today and I realize I had already do some of these things and can attest to the benefits. One, I seriously cut down on my to do list and focus on my top three priorities. After I get that accomplished, everything else is just gravy. I stopped watching TV a few months ago. Really helped me do projects I had postponed, clean my house, and get more, better sleep. I prioritize exercise with my dog. I do write more but will text or email old friends just telling them I am thinking of them, and say something positive about them. This brightens my night and I hope theirs.

When I was working (for others) I’d usually go out every morning and set my watch for 15 minutes. Then start walking, and when the timer sounded, I’d turn around and head home. I felt I needed the fresh air and would not have the energy (or the “bandwidth“) later to enjoy, which was usually true. In plain fact, for different reasons, this still holds true.
Now, as “commercially retired”, I start the various days just puttering in the kitchen. That often goes nowhere. I’m rather pouty about the road I usually walked on being taken over by Private school moms barging into my life, driving their kids to the school, a recent addition to the neighborhood, and heavily impacting my formerly relaxing time outdoors.
I believe I could, and should research the time frame, and make a point to either go earlier or later.
I have good reason to prefer earlier, since photos of my walk, with beautiful, dramatic morning light, have often been inspirational to my artwork/paintings. It seems to me, there’s still plenty of lovely country walks to experience. My bandwidth these days is impacted by other people, so I might as well still take the protective stance.
Thanks for the list. My mind always works best with Multi-Modal learning and processing, so both Hearing your discussion and jotting down the list are useful! Best wishes from coastal New Hampshire!

"Where your writing ends up means far less than the impact it has on you, personally." This is so important for me to hear. Thank you thank you thank you!!!! I tend to get frustrated that no one is reading what I wrote. This is what I needed to hear. Awesome words of wisdom.

‘I am a better person today because I started writing years ago’ love this. Just the inspiration I needed to start writing again.

That smirk you had when you suggested to own less stuff if resetting your kitchen every evening is too difficult. Oh, yes 😀😀
