Addiction, Codependency and Complex Trauma

Addiction and codependency are two symptoms or "characteristics" of Complex Trauma - which is the underlying cause of them. Both of these symptoms need to be addressed and dealt with together.

I totally understand this. I was 23 years in a very dysfunctional relationship. After 5 years I am in a different relationship in which I am constantly monitoring my own behaviour and boundaries to be sure I will NEVER become that dependent on anyone ever again. The biggest difference this time around is that I think I have learned that I must be MY OWN BEST FRIEND! (In place of the healthy parental attachment I never established in childhood) Thank you for your work Tim❣️

He taught me about trauma in summer of 2021. I watched his videos and it was education that provided solid basis to build psychology immunity.

Amen, I have seen it as well. This is why when first in sober living they are told not to get in a relationship. The problem is they need to learn skills to not get back into those kind of relationships. You will notice that the people they refer to as triggers are the very ones they keep going back to. For validation amongst other things and that downward spiral soon follows.

I can see lots of men (and women) loping off out of their “codependent romantic relationship” leaving kids, leases, pets family and friends in their trail. I wish there was more social awareness and resource towards children now suffering in sick familial relationships. Assuming child protection will fix things is just tragedy 🎭.

Why do they do this to women if they are taught that it could trigger addiction issues again. Then they blame the women
