Yes, this limerence happens a lot when we are breadcrumbed by intermittent textmessages. We get addicted by intermittent reinforcement.

I'm a very limerent person, I always fall for people this way. In fact I'm going through it now with someone and it's torture.

I think you should do a video about what love is and how it is built. Because with this video I realized, I never took the time to get to know past partners or I would enter relationships even though I didn’t want it, with the idea in the back of my mind of “it’ll grow on me”. I believe I relied on neurochemicals and fantasies to bond with past partners. And from your beginning excerpt about how love is formed. I don’t think I ever did that.

the video has just began but I’ve experienced limerent obsessions with celebs specifically since I was a little kid. I was a lonely only child always escaping into my fantasy world. I also got bullied for it which caused further loneliness ofc. When I started dating I would become limerent with anyone I was with in the beginning usually. Cant work, cant do anything except fantasize and think about them. It feels so good but also painful. I always say ‘it hurts so good’ bc it provides such euphoria, but then you also realize you’re being insane and you’re in such a very vulnerable position bc of idealizing the person and it’s setting yourself up for interpersonal failure. Im FA and the limerence always ends when I feel Ive ‘secured’ the person. And then I often deactivate. That’s if I even managed to secure the person bc often my overwhelming feelings will cause me to reject them before they reject me or sabotage things in some way to avoid the eventual pain. It’s awful and idg how I can ever be in a healthy relationship. It feels like I cannot love, like I can only experience infatuation/obsession or nothing at all.

Omg that's exactly what it was...this person made me feel "seen." That's what started my limerance.

Hi Tyese, that was very good. I agree with you. I hope you see this. I’m a DA and I have suffered from limerence. One other thing I have noticed lately for the first time is that I have never been in a relationship while working a regular full time job. It’s like the job becomes my relationship but at the same time it falls short of meeting all my needs. It’s just that I’m so detached from my own feelings that I hardly recognize them at all. Why is my job my adopted relationship?

I'm happy Thais pointed out that it's normal to feel limerence as a securely attached person in a secure way of course :)

Is it limerence when people say they "fell in love at first sight?" And can someone have a healthy/non-limerent relationship with someone, but become limerent post breakup? Or is that just typical anxious obsession due to abandonment trauma and unmet needs? :) ♡
