Tom Platz, my very first teacher certifying with freaking ISSA in 1998. Made me cry doing calf raises to failure 3 times while he was pressing his weight down on it. Changed the way I worked out. Made me tougher. Love Tom, super smart man.

Biggest change for me was increasing range of motion. Once I did that my legs gained so much size despite not that much heavier of lifts.

Weight is for strength, reps are for size. If you want pure strength then doing heavy weight will be a better option

"if your form and technique is pure, size and strength will follow" apply this to ALL of your training. More weight is the stepping stone to progression but accuracy and intent during your sets is the absolute foundation.
