Never tolerate a boss who yells at you, insults you, or anything disrespectful at all. It’s okay to tolerate it temporarily if you need the job for some given reason, but have a plan to leave and find a better environment. The best LEADERS never yell at or insult their workers. They encourage them, they teach, they promote a great attitude in the workplace, etc.

Poor guy. He has the weight of the world on his shoulders. I wouldn't put up with a yelling boss. No way!

I hate how bosses think they can take advantage of you because they know you need a job. No one should be yelling at you. That is very unprofessional.

I worked in construction for 21 years and was yelled at almost every day . the man that yelled at me lost his job, lost his benefits and lost his pension . I wanted to hurt him but karma stepped in .

Leave ASAP. I went through this and developed debilitating anxiety, depression, insomnia, heart, palpitations, and more. Not worth any amount of money.

The best time to look for a job is when you have a job.

I got yelled at my job on my first week about asking one guy how to do stuff instead of the girl who worked behind me, in an accounting office. Boss straight up threw a hissy fit and got angry at me. Soured the whole experience/desire of being there. Since that time, I came up with an exit strategy as soon as I can. There's a massive difference between constructive criticism and being yelled at.

Coming from a guy who has been yelled at by an (ex) boss: please follow these guys' advice and exit---with a plan. But exit, and exit fast!

The day I left that job, it felt like an enormous backpack had come off of me.

His caller should record the yelling idiot and upload to every single media possible.

I had a similar situation where a short little ex-marine boss with a Napoleon complex would go on tirades at the otherwise professional staff. Right off the bat when he pulled that with me I calmly but firmly told him that sort of behavior might work with the others, but it doesn't with me, and never talk to me like that again. And he never did. He did with the others, but never with me. Right from the beginning you need to set the perimeters, but also be prepared for the possible consequences.

I've had plenty of bosses yell at me, I look them in the eyes and laugh. Then they get to learn they don't scare me and IDC about their veiled threats. They end up liking me and I get promoted because I'm assertive and don't back down, I also do not antagonize. Don't look away from them once the eyes are locked, make it clear you are willing to die on this hill if they keep pushing.

I felt trapped in a horribly toxic job for a year because it was a very “attractive” position and I was the breadwinner for my wife who had medical troubles. Every day felt like the movie Whiplash. I’m still shaken up from it.

My former boss appreciated my efforts and encouraged me. He allowed staff to make decisions. He left for greener pastures out of state. His replacement operates on the idea that belittling people, calling them out in front of colleagues, and ignoring problems is the way to go. I will be looking elsewhere.

My previous boss would yell at me in front of my coworkers, so I left as soon as I found another position within my company. She was mean!

Something In have learned and it works for this situation. NEVER allow anyone you work with or your employer, know how desperately you need that job. Because, now they know they can push you around and you will not go anywhere. Keep your personal life/finances out of work conversations, cause it will get used against you.

Yeah having been screamed at a few times working at accenture I checked out pretty quick. No benefit is worth your mental health when you've got credentials and experience. Now I make 3/4ths as much working for myself as a grease monkey but that 25% is worth the peace of mind knowing anyone who screams at me can be asked to leave my shop or else I'll call the cops (Police station is 800 feet away).
