What helps me is telling myself that I’ve fallen asleep before successfully without anxiety, so I can do it tonight... I just affirm this each day

My (non-professional) advice for how to relax and get to sleep is warm cup of milk, book, no phone or computer. If you still can't get to sleep go for a wander around your house and get a glass of water, just chill for 15 minutes then go back.

I'm not a trained medical provider this is just what helps me.

wait! i can't sleep even when i think of nothing. i just feel stressed because of nothing... and i can't feel like that now! i'm only 14!

Ive been recently having that type of anxiety too. It really becomes a loop thats hard to escape. It makes me gag a little too. I get really frustrated and have that urge/need to cry my heart out but it just feels like that cry is trapped, itching to get out.
To overcome this, I definitely have planned/decided to be more present and express what Im feeling to family and friends. I have always been the quiet type of guy and I get scared exposing the vulnerability in me to other people but ima break through that social wall now. Realizing that sometimes a helping hand doesn't always need to be our own reassures the introvert in me. Its selfish to think Im the only one struggling with this anyways. Im just human. We all are. Hoping all of us suffering with sleep anxiety get better! We are never alone with this.

Oh my god! If only I new that I should "just relax" my sleep would get fixed immediately!
Does "just don't feel pain" also works when I feel pain?

I can go without sleep for about 4 days and still get up and still feel like I can run a mile.

Whenever I try to fall asleep my mind starts to race. I start thinking random things, sometimes negative stuff. While my eyes are closed and thinking I should sleep now and that it is really late and that I really need to get some more than 5 hours of sleep. *I feel my head spinning and then I forget to breathe I think. Or I out of nowhere lose my breath. I then try not to panic that I couldn't breathe for a second because I am afraid of not breathing. I start to worry more because I am scared that i will get those sensations again (dizziness and loss of breath).* Its the worst feeling ever for me at night. I am even afraid of falling asleep because I dont want to feel those again, sometimes i can feel them more than once at night.

I can only sleep for about 4 hours each night. I find it difficult to sleep in the first place because of my anxiety but then I end up waking up from 3-4am.

This video just told a load of people that have anxiety about not being able to sleep, the negative effects that not sleeping has on your body. Really helped my anxiety about not sleeping 🙃👍🏼

Your not alone a lot of us feel like this mines come and go right now I’m having chest tightness because of anxiety I wake up and my heart is racing so fast I feel like something bad if gong to happen I can’t rest at night i jump up feeling like I can’t catch my breath it sucks bad this virus really messed with a lot of us but we will get through this anxiety and depression sucks so bad🙏🏾

the worst one is "what if i'm up all night can can't sleep, what if i can't sleep tomorrow night too, I think might be sick if I didn't sleep

Anything about insomnia is always about stress. But there's pretty much no resources for those with other causes! I do rarely worry at night but have been an insomniac since I was toddler do I've near lifelong sleep deprivation. It's most likely physiological but there's pretty no help or research for that side of things. And usually we get told it's not harmful!

The tips are great. Also, try having a routine the last 30 minutes before going to sleep such as putting the phone down, turning off the computer and getting some water. Your routine can vary, but doing this every day will let your mind and body know it's time to fall asleep. It also helps to listen to some soothing music *HINT* *HINT* *WINK* WINK*.

I’m an 11 year old girl, and started not sleeping when I was preparing for my 11+. I was stressed about my exams the next day and couldn’t sleep, about half a year later, I still get stressed before getting into bed, because I always think if I will be able to sleep or not, and start stressing. I don’t know what to do and when I can’t sleep I start crying and getting really emotional. Please help.
