- About Dr. Mary Claire Haver and The Galveston Diet -
Dr. Mary Claire Haver is a passionate women’s health advocate who believes women in midlife deserve to live their best life. She cuts through fat-shaming and fads, so women are empowered with the science behind anti-inflammation nutrition.

Dr. Mary Claire Haver is a wife, mom, physician, and entrepreneur who has devoted her adult life to women’s health. As a Board-Certified OBGYN in the Houston area, Dr. Haver has delivered thousands of babies, completed thousands of well-woman exams, counseled patients, taught residents, and did everything an academic professor and OBGYN could do.

As her patient population aged, Dr. Haver was overwhelmed with the number of complaints and concerns her patients had with weight gain while going through menopause. For years, she told her patients to eat less and exercise more. It wasn't until she experienced the changes of menopause and mid-life weight gain that she realized this advice doesn't work and ultimately led to her creating and developing a new program, The Galveston Diet.

The Galveston Diet is the first and only nutrition program created by a Female OBGYN, designed for women in menopause. The Galveston Diet helps women reach their health and wellness goals through an anti-inflammatory approach to nutrition. Dr. Haver believes in food's power to combat inflammation and highly recommends the unlimited benefits of intermittent fasting. As part of her ongoing research, she became certified in Culinary Medicine in 2019, specializing in medical nutrition.

I was dx with Multiple Sclerosis as a nurse in March 2021, within two months of the 2nd COVID jab. I didn't even know as a neuro imcu nurse that low Vitamin D is associated with a greater risk for MS. 😊

I'm sorry to hear your doctor is treating you that way. We have the same problem here in the UK, if you're over 60, you get treated as if you're an idiot. I'm 79 and found it gets worse when you reach 70. I had a farm until 3 years ago, always been active and have a Masters and other degrees. Doctors and various people talk rubbish to me, why don't you play Bingo, aren't you coming to the coffee morning? I'm on HRT and intend to stay on it to protect my bones. I've always been active in sports, my joints have taken a bashing, you'll know. Wish you luck with your doctor, et al. you're doing marvellously, great runs and fit as a fiddle at 145lb.

I’ve gained weight 20lbs - eat super healthy and found out I’m ferritin and d3 deficiencent even though I move more than before and eat healthier. Hopefully 4000 iu and iron I’ll help in a month or 2.

Wow! I have a lot of those symptoms but my doctor said my Vitamin D levels is good! She do not listen to my concerns though. She thinks that because I am older that my symptoms are because of old age. I am older but I don't sit my ass down and watch soap operas or play bingo like they associate older people with. I run 5 and 10K marathons and walk for 2 or 3 miles daily. I am 70 years and 145 lbs. I am on no medications but my doc is aleays trying to write me a prescription for something or the other because I am a senior as she puts it. My doctor looks like over 250 lbs.

Do you have a favorite you recommend for someone 50 years old?

This is so so real plus must be taken at night because it also regulates sleep patterns
Most people with autoimmune issues have very low vitamin D.
In my case I have to take 50, 000 units 3 times per week

I take 10, 000 IU per day. I know that may seem like a lot to some but I have arthritis. Also, my sister had her levels checked after taking 1, 000 IU per day for a few months and it didn’t even register; it was non existent. So now she’s also taking 10, 000 IU per day.

Recently I watched a video of a woman who decided to stay in Norway when it’s dark from October to January. So she decided to supplement with 4, 000 IU per day because she wasn’t going to be getting any sunlight. So in January, after 4 months of taking 4, 000 IU per day, she got her Vitamin D levels tested. She was just below the normal range.
