As mentioned in the video, the purpose of this video is not to scare people into not taking vitamin D. Quite the opposite. It shows that this rare case was a perfect storm: 1)Very high dose 2) took calcium supplements 3) had an underlying condition that made it worse. 4) did not get levels checked after taking it.
For those who think this is a “hit piece”, would you rather the media to just to publish these stories without explaining why they happened?

I believe that vitamin d supplementation is a good thing. I do it myself. Explaining why moderation and prudent monitoring of vit D does not constitute a hit piece. We have to get out of the black and white false dichotomy of thinking. Medicine is so much more complex. If you want more information on vit d please watch out video on the benefits of vit d. 12 million people have already.

To be honest people go to self supplementation because Medical Doctors are so behind on what health is and how some supplements and whole foods, sunshine, exercise, Intermittent Fasting and stress control can keep some one healthy and prescription drug free. My doctor only treats symptoms and only treats symptoms with drugs. He is a drug pusher in a way. Never going to the source of the symptoms. I am assuming my MD is at least 17 years behind the publications. He often compliments me on my good health never realizing that my health is a consequence of decisions, self discipline, and self education.

The patient took 375 times the recommended daily intake of vitamin D, every day, for a month. Most normal components of food or drink, taken at such an overdose rate over a month, would likely be fatal. The lesson is: vitamin D is remarkably safe. Just be reasonable and don't take crazy overdoses.

I’ve been taking 10, 000 IU of D3 daily for years along with: K2, magnesium glycinate, omega 3 fish oil and ubiquinol (coQ10) with good results. I feel great!
The RDA of 400 IU of D3 is a joke.

I went to my GP saying that I felt sick all over. My vitamin D level came back at 29.
He said that was good. He had no idea why I was feeling sick.
I sought out an osteopathic practitioner that recommended supplements....especially vitamin D3 and K2.
I now keep my vitamin D level around 80.
75% improvement in my body aches and pains!

I told my doctor I was taking high doses of Vitamin D and asked her for a Vitamin D test. She told me, "You don't need a Vitamin D test." Eventually, I switched doctors after I finally realized that she couldn't care less about my health.

This is a good reminder that everyone should use common sense and monitor their levels. It is possible to take too much of a good thing. Thank you.

When I asked my doctor to test my Vit. D levels, he said it was too expensive. Considering I'm on Medicare, I was wondering why he should care about the price.

He did diagnose me with some kind of a rare blood cancer and sent me to a specialist. After almost $4K for two visits...and the results of a gallon's worth of blood tests, the specialist told me that I didn't have a rare blood cancer, but an inherited minor blood disease...something that I knew for decades that I had.

Maybe the FDA should start doing the job that it's so well-paid for and update their recommendations for daily requirements of vitamins and minerals, which seem to be the same since I was young and spry.

Having almost died and since recovered from sarcoidosis, I'm not stranger to the fact that high levels of vitamin D is very dangerous. Its disturbing that some people on Youtube have presented it as consistently harmless and lacking in risk.

FINALLY!!!! At 15:21 of 19:28 you FINALLY arrived at the SYMPTOMS!!!! You are obviously well versed at a WIDE range of vitamin supplements and diagnostic procedures, AND this video proves that the more educated a person is about a subject matter, the more difficult it is for that person to speak about said topic. What was the topic/title of this video? MIGHT want to consider that in the preparation phase of the NEXT video.

Just to be clear...I agree with Dr. Seheult 100%...just so we're on the same page.
The most important step is (working WITH your doctor) getting your blood Vitamin D levels checked. But each person is different, some people need more Vitamin D, and some need less to stay in that agreed-upon (with your doctor) range...depending on the time of year, skin color, where you live, etc. Conditions do exist that could lead to toxicity...so work with your doctor. Vitamin D deficiency is a significant issue, especially in the black and Hispanic communities (as darker skin colors tend to block more UVB) living in northern climates, similar to situations we've seen in northern Europe. But we've also seen this in many places that get plenty of sun...as people tend to cover up more to protect themselves from the sun. Without a doubt, this is an important video...

Someone accidentally add a zero to his protocol and the patient had no idea what and why he was taking these things?

ONE HUNDRED FIFTY THOUSAND IU of Vitamin D a day?!? Who in their right mind?!?

This was a very fair representation of a very rare case. Thank you for the information. I also take vitamin D supplements in safe and monitored (by an annual physical) manner. Ultimately we have to advocate for ourselves regarding health care. Knowing what to avoid, knowing what is normal or excessive and being conscious plus articulate about conveying how we are physically is extremely valuable data to have.

30 minutes of midday sun exposure was equivalent to consuming 10, 000–20, 000 IU of vitamin D3 ..okay ..just to give you an idea.

Certainly agree with getting levels checked. I was taking daily 10, 000 IU D3 along with K2(mk7) for over a year and eventually got my MD to get a Vit. D test past my insurance and my level was just 36 ng. I had hoped for over 50.

I recently was on 50, 000 IUs of vitamin D3 for 12 weeks, then switched to over the counter to maintain it. Yeah, Im not doing that prescription BS again. As the high dosage was wearing off as I switched to over the counter, I fell into very deep depression which turned into similar symptoms of a nervous breakdown. My therapist and nutritionist both told me to stop taking the D3, and most of what I described had subsided, almost completely by the 4th day. I still have a little here and there but its tamed now.... A lot of doctors dont know what they're doing. They rely as much on Google as we do

150, 000 IU DAILY!!!???? No wonder he had Vitamin D toxicity. My Vitamin D levels were dangerously low, below 10 if memory serves me right. Doctors said that generally 30 is low so having mine below 10 was pretty bad. Iv just finished taking 4000 IU daily for 10 weeks and will be getting my blood checked in next week or so. Iv heard that possibly going up to 10, 000 IU might be a good step if my levels still haven't risen that much, but 150, 000 IU! DAILY!!!???

I don't know if the Vit D3 was the only issue here if you look at that crazy list of stuff he was taking as well. Holy cow
