This attitude is why people can’t see Jesus in the churches.

The Chosen doesn't purport to preach the gospel, it simply brings the story to life creatively and that has brought people to God and reinvigorated Christians to read the gospels.

LET ME GET ON MY SOAPBOX
15 years ago i was saved, repented of my sins, dove into scripture, got baptized and experienced Jesus’ love and forgiveness. I’m assuming I did everything the “correct” way according to this guy. I love the chosen! I think it’s great and allows people to visualize the PORTRAYAL of Jesus’ never failing love for every living being on this earth. Pharisees, Lepers, prostitutes, murderers, drunks etc.. This show has led so many to Christ!! Probably thousands more than this guy. I do agree that people who decide to give themselves to Christ shouldn’t use this show alone as a foundation of their faith. There’s so much more to experience to have a strong relationship with God. Jesus calls on us to lead others to him. That’s what this show is doing!! Good grief, no one is worshipping the actor that PORTRAYS Jesus. Sure, everything in the show may not be 100% biblically accurate. But neither is this pastor or whatever he is. No pastor, no priest, no rabbi, no human being has EVER interpreted the Bible with perfect accuracy. We’re HUMAN, we’re incapable. Maybe they made some mistakes with the show. Have a some grace! Yes, they are making a ton of money off this show, yes they are profiting off the story of Jesus. So is this guy. It’s not necessarily a bad thing. It takes money to do anything, especially reach thousands of people. Instead of griping about it and turning people away from your teachings try shutting up and praying for this show. Pray that they use this money to serve God’s will and to as accurately as possible PORTRAY the story of Jesus.

The Chosen did give a disclaimer at the beginning of the show that everyone should read the Bible and not depend on the show, and that they have added characters and dialogues to produce the drama series. It has never claimed to replace the Bible and it did help me accept Christ into my life again.

This show portrays life 2 thousand years ago showing people as humans instead of the robot like beings in past movies of Jesus.
The characters show real emotions and fear and love and prejudices. I recently became born again. It is a real phenomenon. Going to church did not save me. Surrendering my life to Father God, and Holy Spirit saved me. The Chosen has shown me and others what people act like way back when. I now love Jesus so much because I now read about HIM in The Bible. HE was human and HE is God

The Chosen Show is amazing!
If it is 100% accurate or not is irrelevant.
It has led millions of people into reading their bibles and growing their relationships with god.

There’s literally this person on YouTube, Leonardo Torres, who has filmed himself reacting to certain episodes of The Chosen.

At first, the titles of his videos would read, “Non-Christian reacts to….of The Chosen, ” but by season 3, they’d read “Former Non-Christian reacts to….of The Chosen.”

The show is planting seeds. The studio behind the show plans on releasing more faith-based content in the future. With how successful Sound of Freedom was, the future looks bright for them. This could be the start of a new Jesus Revolution.

I never understood the popularity of this show, I agree. To me adding to Gods word and pretending we understand what Jesus did and said outside of what the gospel says is such a terrifying undertaking it should never be attempted. People can take the seeker senstive route but if people end up with counterfeit faith from the show then its fruits are worthless.

Came across this short and after thoroughly reading through some of your comments as replies to those who have said that the show had changed their lives for the better and gotten close to Christ is just astonishing… for someone such as myself who was in deep depression, suicidal, never repented my sins finally have watched the show and only then have I opened my Bible and I’m finally studying God’s words; I’d just like to point out a couple of things. Look I’m not condemning you, however of all people you shouldn’t condemn those. Seriously, as a ministry, you should be happy that a show can influence so many to come closer to God. However, your comments just sound envious and judgmental. You know maybe they’re making money because of how great a show it is and it could be their blessing. I’ve bought their merch and paid it forward because it has brought such a positive experience personally for me that I believe I could be kind to at least bless them with some of my money that I’ve got. How else do you think they could continue the story of God’s word from the Bible without money? They’ve got expenses too. Production costs, fees for equipment and the sets. The actors…people don’t work for free you know. Even though it’s acting, there is still a big biblical message behind all of it… if you’ve paid attention to the show… the Pharisees made comments similar to your comments. As a preacher you should not condemn those preaching God’s word no matter what… God is love. He shows mercy. Save the condemning for only Him. Now that I think of it, since you like to quote scripture… as I was reading your comments a specific verse came to mind and I thought I’d share it.

Matthew 7:21-23

Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord, ’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. I think there are two points to be made. 1. The Chosen never made one claim that they sought to replace the Gospels, rather the first slide of season 1, episode 1 talks about the story being expanded upon and encourages people to go to the gospels to read them for themselves. Second, everyone who rejects based on staying true to the word then must reject all English versions and go back to the original Aramaic or Hebrew translations. Might as well go back to the dark ages because there aren't many people sitting in churches today who could do that. I have seen how The Chosen touches people's lives and turns them toward Jesus. The proof is in the results to whether God is using this to draw many to Him! And He IS!!
