Should Christians be watching the Chosen? Is it Mormon affiliated? All good questions to consider when we look at what we entertain ourselves with.

They did have an evangelical pastor, a Jewish teacher, and catholic priest all provide input for each episode to be accurate for the times. To be honest whenever we read the Bible, we read it with a bias based on our experiences in life. It sounds like you are putting God in a box by saying that he can't use the Holy Spirit to speak to us when we read it regardless of what we have seen.

The point of the show is get people interested and read the Bible. it is not to replace the Bible and provide teaching.

I have watched all the episodes out so far, and I absolutely love it. I have enjoyed the portrayal of Jesus and his disciples.

If we shouldn't be portraying stories from the Bible, then the church shouldn't do any Christmas plays then because it can portray inaccuracies. How many times do they show wise men show up at the stable when that didn't happen.

This show is a blessing and is being used by God to change lives. We shouldn't get too legalistic with things like this.

Thank you! The flesh is so very weak and and we need discernment. The Holy Spirit told me not to watch it after season three. I was initially enjoying it and then God said, that’s it. Go back to My Word and My Son. I love that His sheep knows His voice. ❤️🙏🏽✝️ Thank you again for this. The enemy is very crafty and we continually need to pray for spiritual discernment. Also it was said that Angel Studio’s is Mormon owned or partners ? 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

I understand your objections but I think you need to realize the goal of Dallas Jenkins. He’s explained that he is trying to reach a young generation that is consuming so much secular content from various sources who may not otherwise get exposure to biblical themes. Full disclosure: I think The Chosen is very well done and I think it could be a useful tool to reach people.

I wonder what your thoughts are regarding Brock Heasley’s The Shift (sci-fi movie that is faith based) and Paul Syrstad’s Testament which is a modern interpretation of the book of Acts and some of the parables. I think Christian based content needs people to explore new boundaries to broaden the potential audience beyond those already saved.

It’s not that the Bible isn’t enough. It’s that for many the Bible is completely absent from their lives. There are many ways to plant biblical seeds. Is it bad if some are trying new creative ways to spread the good news? Just my thoughts- thank you for your content.

Very important points to remember when choosing what images we let in--God's or man's.

I've got quite a lot to say on this one… 😊….
Firstly, if people, who are Christians, are replacing their time in the Word by watching the Chosen, I completely agree that's wrong and dangerous.
I have watched all of the episodes, and also researched quite a bit about what the creators of the show have said in interviews. I believe that they are trying to reach and point people to Christ. (More than 430 million have seen the show so far?)

On the point that what we watch can taint how we view scripture when we go back and read it, perhaps people are different but I just have not found this to be the case for me. I watched the 4 part TV show Jesus of Nazareth when I was a teenager several times, and this didn't have a lasting effect on my perception of Christ. I have watched several other films etc also, and the Chosen.

As I've said, if people are using it to replace time in the Word, that is wrong. Where I do see it (and have found it to be) of value is as a conversation starter. I live where bibles are not readily available, however The Chosen has full audio in the local language here. I have found it to be an effective door opener with people and share and point them to the bible. In much the same way as the illustration you made (but in reverse), I see people watching a film about someone and then wanting to know more and meet them in person.

I understand your comments about the first episode. I think I had a similar feeling at the time, but I'm glad I kept going so I could get a full and balanced view of what the show was about, as I believe it does have some excellent scenes that I have found useful.

I haven't watched The Chosen, and I've seen enough about it on YouTube to not want to watch it.

In the early 2000s one of the major networks had a TV miniseries simply called "Jesus", and I'll admit it influenced me for a while when I read the Bible, so I know what you're talking about there.

Thanks for your concern about this subject. Honestly I don’t know anything about it. I’ve not watched any of it. And I’m not sure if I will watch it. The Bible is enough for me and I’m having such a hard time trying to live up to it. So I’m often not happy when someone has a “new” word from God. Since I struggle with what I already know. If this show helps people look deeper into the Lord I’m grateful for that, if it isn’t it’s not from God will come to nothing. Blessings from God Brother. You labor is not in vane

A whale makes more sense then a big fish. When did the Jesus actor touch a women disrespectful? I totally missed that.

idolatry can be sneaky... might ok for a grounded Christian to watch the chosen, but i would be careful... it would be better not to.. my opinion

I didn’t watch the video because it’s an obvious answer for the question, but I’ll chime in here for those watching. You shouldn’t watch the Chosen unless you worship a false Christ. Even then, you definitely shouldn’t watch it and should pick up a Bible and learn about the true Christ instead so you can believe on him and be saved
