Should Christians Watch THE CHOSEN?!

The Chosen is the first multi-season series about the life of Jesus and His disciples - and it is taking OVER.

Their stated goal is to reach a billion people with their show, and they are all in on pursuing that goal.

But, questions about Mormon / LDS influence abound - the creator, Dallas Jenkins, is ADAMANT that the LDS church is not having any influence on the content in the show, but is that true?

I break down my thoughts on the show, and give you my honest opinion. Should Christians watch the Chosen? Let's talk about it!

Growing up in a household where the only teaching about Christ seemed "stale" at best, I wandered greatly as a teenager. When Jesus rescued me from the depths of my "hell on Earth" He made me feel _EXACTLY_ as it depicts Mary in the first episode of The Chosen.

When I watched this first episode, I was very wary too - I had heard good / bad from multiple people, and was wary of how someone would interpret Scripture for the Gen Pop. However, the more I've watched this series, the more it has helped me relate to who Jesus was, and how he would still be.

Imagine - Jesus made the wine at a Wedding. WINE. At a WEDDING - a celebration with Joy and DANCING. THIS was NOT a Jesus I grew up knowing - he was always depicted to me as being stuffy and old, much like the bulk of Elders at different churches I've been to, and I would've never thought of Jesus _DANCING_ with his loved ones / friends.

Because GOD is the author of these emotions of Joy and Gladness, why would it have ever been discouraged to think of Jesus as being Jovial when attending a wedding? Being able to see Christ in my mind's eye as capable of _DANCING_ as depicted in this beautiful homage has helped me to refuse this preposterous rendition I grew up with, and relate to what life could have been like with Jesus physically here, and _OH - HOW I _*_LONG_*_ FOR THIS IN MY OWN LIFE - to DANCE with JESUS!_

I can only pray that the individuals who work on this series will receive Christ, and therefore their own influences will change. People lining up to stop this production should be cautious from discouraging this - as long as it honors God's Word to the best that it can - when it strays (the workers _are_ human) - PRAY for them to return! Remember - even if Shysters and Hoodlums are preaching the Word of God, the Word of God shall not return void, and Praise to the Lord shall ring while all Glory goes to Him.

Jesus fan fiction is the best description I've heard.

Just started the video and stopped to say "The Shepherd" wasn't a "pilot" episode for The Chosen. Dallas Jenkins had created it as a Christmas video for his church at the time. When he felt led to create a series on the life of Jesus, he showed "The Shepherd" to various entities as a sample of the work he'd done and how he stylistically planned to film a series - steady cam close-up camera work, realistic dialogue, focus on relationships, etc.

When you said “ the Bible dosent tell a story (in the sense of visually appealing ), like Harry Potter . You lost me . If you read the WORD of God and it dosent move you more than Harry Potter . There is something seriously wrong, God gave us all we need, through his WRITTEN WORD. If he wanted us to have a movie or a picture he would have given us that. Actually it goes against the second commandment, you shall not make idols, The problem is that man has carved and created an image of Christ, the Christ of their liking, not the God of the Bible . If you love the world and the things of the world you are at enmity with God . I pray conviction would take over through the Holy Spirit .

As adults, if you people need pastors and others to tell you what decisions to make, well,

The Pilot you mention was beautiful, very moving. From there, I hope viewers choose to study the Bible and join the local church. Things like the "I Know, Let's Put on a Show" episode, dressing the Jesus character in different colors are dismal.
God brings sanctification and "furnishes" belief.
Worship God and His Word, not "Christian Art"

So, in other words, God's Word through Holy Spirit and the authority of Jesus Christ of the Bible(absent any new revelations) is not enough these days to reach people who have a complex relationship with religion or God, or Christians, or organized religion, etc, etc, etc ...

They have definitely gone too far. I used to have minor concerns but consider it basically “ok” but I’ve now changed my view. I discuss what they did in season three on my channel messing with Jesus’s “I am” statements.
