The Hippiearab Podcast --- S1 E8
Since the creation of man, the gym has always been associated with physical health. Not many talk about the mental side of the struggle. Putting on your gym clothes, driving to the gym, preparing for your lifts and just showing up- all for yourself. The beauty of the gym is the betterment of oneself, not necessarily in the way one looks, but in the way one feels, adapts, and grows in their sense of confidence and discipline in all aspects of life- just by stepping foot in the gym.

*me, a Christian woman who already weightlifts for years, listening to every second of this:* This is some good stuff. Everything is 100% true. Also, I wish I had a women's only gym near me. Why is this not a more common thing??

how can someone be so blunt and tell all the truths that many influencers or vloggers try to hide it in a diplomatic way😂

Dietitian here - although I totally agree with you that we need exercise and movement fundamentally - people who are fat are not that way just because they’re lazy. For some, sure. But a vast majority of hormonal imbalance and have trauma that alters how their bodies interact with food. This was a simplification of a complicated problem.

I’m a gym goer guy who’s been going to the gym regularly for the past 7 years and I can attest to everything you said and relate to it all! Keep doing your podcasts, you’re such a positive influence to all the teenagers and grown adults.

Been exercising 2-3 times every week for about 2 years now, and it really helped me so much with my anxiety. And obviously I got stronger and have a better endurance and my mental health is probably at my best!

P.s to start exercising and find it more enjoyable maybe do it with a friend, and do something that will make you feel accomplished and proud of yourself. Results won't be immediate but they will come!

Going to gym or any exercise is not to attain a certain body but a certain mindset. Well said

that "show up" mentality is actually really good, not giving into how you're feeling and continuing to better yourself. i'm going to try remember that one because i need a reminder to stay on track with my goals

Hi. I'm 57 years old. In my family runs the brittle bone disease. I exercise for mobility, and functionality. At my age I cannot keep aging from taking over since I'm already there. Looking great doesn't matter to me anymore. I just don't want to use a cane, or fall on the floor. I have diabetes type 2, high blood pressure, and a lung disease. I take medicines for each disease. Exercise has kept me from other deteriorating factors. Exercise does help with aging. Congratulations on your fitness journey.😊

i did weight training for 2 years to be "slim thick" bc everyone told me i look better muscular but i hated it i was so drained with my high protein diet and heavy weights so i started Pilates with low impact exercises and it has been the best decision ive ever made i dont track anymore and im not forcing myself to be thick plus i feel great lifting 3-10 lb weights

Journaling doesn't only help people with their mental health but it also helps organize a person's thoughts about any sort of topic and even a way of expression by addressing those thoughts to someone. I used to only journal when I was going through something or I experienced quite the event so I would only journal on rare occasions but now I've been using journaling as a form of communication to Allah (SWT) by telling him my thoughts and other things in a form of letter which makes such a bigger impact on me and my relationship with Him. Now I journal almost everyday and I feel so good afterwards Alhamdulillah :)
