Even trying to replace the belt on that pink dress looks iffy with how thin I think those belt loops look. I went shopping with my mom today for the first time in a while at a regular store and I was so bummed by how expensive but cheaply made everything was. We ended up at a thrift store instead because it’s such a better experience for me and I ended up finding more items I liked and didn’t have to pay full price. Your videos have helped inform me even more on the small details that can make a world of difference in my opinion😁

I HATE these, I always have. When I was in school I used those belts as a ribbon in my hair instead!

I work with vintage clothing, and back then they actually made proper belts, with backing, and buckles and everything in the same fabric as the garment, to get the same effect, but stop it from being a crumbly mess

I always have replaced these as well! Invest into 3-4 skinny leather belts with one being black, another brown/beige and a vibrant colour. And voila! So many dresses look classy!! 😍

I hate how they fold and turn into basically a thick piece of string no matter how loose you tied it.☹️

Hm… I guess I’ve never had a problem with these belts because I just iron them and they typically maintain their shape once they’ve been pressed. But maybe in that case, the belts weren’t actually like these belts but instead, just items that were left tied for too long in display rather than a quality thing.

Can you do a men’s edition? I love the way you talk about quality in clothing

I have a few outfits like this in silk, I just steam the outfit prior to wear and it removes any wrinkles.

With some designs especially in certain coats I like soft belting. I detest them on dresses if they are wider than tagliatelle pasta and there is no point of them on pants for my personal style. I know rope "belts" are back in style on jeans.

I dabble in sewing, so I really liked the piece and wanted to keep the original belt I would reinforce it myself.

I found a trenchcoat that wasn't bad at all except the belt was lazy so I just got rid of ot and use it with only the buttons.

Yeah, you’re right, crumply belts are so annoying. But if I love the design of the item then I just buy it anyway (but I’m trying to shop less so let’s see).

ugh i dont like these belts. i always have to separately iron them and somehow after every wear, they still get crumpled. i either use a different material or get a custom belt made. also, sometimes they get lost in the wash.

Interfacing inside a belt to keep it stiff or firmer isn't hard.
Unpicking, then adding interfacing and resewing is sometimes the only answer.

You can iron that belt, ironing usually makes clothes look more put together, if not more expensive.

I hate those belts too! I prefer a dress that cinches in on its own where needed

Figures, I just ordered a linen combo something skirt with a tie waist 😂

Or you use doublesided vlieseline to stiffen the belt and sew it firmly.

For me, shopping at fast fashion stores like Zara or Pull & Bear had become the strange thing to do. People feel weird when they go into a department store or other designer stores because they feel like they don’t belong and that’s me with cheaply made expensive crap.
I rather buy less, but it be high quality.
