In the past three years, my husband and I gradually changed our diets according to what you have mentioned. He had gout and RA and PMR. We no longer (2 yrs) drink alcohol. He has lost 60+ lbs. (now 200lbs, 6’), no gout, RA, PMR. Walks 12+ miles at a time. No more inflammation. Please people believe it. He is 79, I, 77. You don’t have to feel old just because you have a high number age.

I'm pleased to hear doctors talking about food instead of talking about medications about time to

1. Sugar
2. Trans fat
3. REFINED carbs (glycemic index spikes)
4. Alcohol (sorry!)
5. Red and Processed Meats (AGE)
6. Vegetable and Seed Oils (too many omega 6’s)
Runners up:
Gluten
Nightshades (these are okay, no proof that they cause inflammation)

I can't imagine how you both find time for these instructive videos with a full practice, BUT thank you. You both pack a full course of info into just a few minutes. And for the lay, non medical viewer, you could not be more clear. All the best.

Thanks for this video! 3 months ago my husband made a radical change in diet as an experiment. He feels so much better eating salads, salmon, chicken, fruits and veggies. Last night we had Chinese and a decadent birthday cake. He commented that he'd pay for it...today he's got body aches, back pain and headache. We just watched your video and it's nice to have the science to back his personal experiment.

It takes practice, alot of practice but when every day is an exhausting day full of fatigue and pain, you get tired of being in pain. Eating the right way just makes life easier, you really do feel much better..

Thank you for talking about food. Most physicians only care about medications.💗. As an extremely insulin resistant person, I pretty much live on green leafy veggies, a hand full of berries and 5 oz of home raised organic meat per meal. I only use avocado and olive oil when using oil. You do not need to be on a keto diet to be low carb.😀

Following these guidelines is very effective.
Earlier this year I was diagnosed with severe PMR. My rheumatologist give me a diet sheet that essentially gave the same advice as this video. But it emphasised fish for omega 3 and allowed olive and avocado oils.
I've tried to follow it and 6 months later he says I've done very well. I believe the diet has helped enormously.

Great great ! Video. As a doc myself, I have recommended these same suggestions. I luckily got to live overseas as part of my childhood, in Europe and it is so easy to eat healthy. There are so many good things to eat. So many ways to prepare delicious vegetables and fruits with lean protein such as fish, chicken, turkey, and limited beef. It’s in the last 30-35 years that here in the USA, the large food industries have contaminated our ideas and force feed people. When I was in Jr high and HS, when we had a dance or other social activity, THERE WAS NO FOOD! It was great. We knew to eat before the activity and then go and enjoy the activity not go to eat. In the late 70s-80s, during the disco era in college, we would go dancing and not eat because we ate before going out. I feel food is the focus for all activities. Also, the style was to be thin, not huge.

The foods we eat have both direct and indirect effects on our bodies. I have known about some of the inflammatory foods and stay clear of them. My body doesn’t like the way certain foods play havoc on my pain. I’m sure there’s more I can learn and put into practice. The one big food I eliminated completely was red meat. Love the topic and keep these videos coming .

My brother did all the wrong things you mention. He suffered from gout in addition to other health issues. In 2004 he was prescribed Viox for his gout and died of a massive heart attack at age 48. This despite having no history of heart disease in our family. I'm almost 65 and I'm in good health. I practice moderation with the foods I eat and I actually drink a lot less since retirement usually 2 drinks per week.
