An enlarged prostate (also known as Benign prostatic hyperplasia) is a relatively common condition that increases in prevalence as men get older. Certain dietary and lifestyle choices can influence the growth of the prostate, the progression of prostate enlargement, and subsequent risk for prostate cancer. In this lesson, we discuss these diet and lifestyle modifications in order to prevent and reduce prostate enlargement, reduce symptoms of an enlarged prostate, and reduce risk of prostate cancer.

I am 73 years old and since my teens, I have eaten, what nowadays is called a healthy diet.
And yet I have a very enlarged prostate.every individual is different and, aside from obvious generalities,
You have to find what works best for you .just an observation and opinion.thank you .

So much inconsequential information given here it's ridiculous. I have had an enlarged prostrate and big problems peeing. Was given meds by my doc which were useless, lots of flow tests then told I needed an operation to cut out part of my prostrate to ease flow. Whoa!!! I looked on YT and found Dr Berg's channel and Stefan Ekberg's channel (Former Olympic Athlete). I cut out diary, cereals and wheat, started eating cruciferous veg a lot more regularly, I ate it several times a week anyway but now more frequently. Started eating walnuts and pistachios, more beetroot. Still no milk or cheese and DEFINITELY no white bread or processed pastries. Started IF intermittent fasting (I am NOT fat) and after a few days to one week I could feel relief. Peeing became easier and after a couple of months I'm back to normal like I am 19 again peeing like a water cannon!!!! So the problem is with dairy and oestrogen and high carb diets leading to high insulin levels. Cut out diary and carbs especially stodgy carbs found in processed foods. I hope this helps other men who are suffering. It was agony at the time. I was going many times during the night and day but just could not pee. Now back to normal can sleep the whole night through. I eat meat, red meat. Doesn't have any affect on my prostrate. I don't drink alcohol or smoke. I am other wise very active, fit and slim.

Thank you. I don't know anything about swollen prostate. My husband has been having some symptoms, and this and the other one are so good. You get right to the point and could find out quickly what to do naturally to shrink your prostrate. Wow, what a blessing. I am the same way. If I know how to help someone, I just tell them, no charge. I think the world would have so much more joy by living for others.

Wait, so let me get this straight... No grains, no dairy, no protein/meat, no high fat foods, and no food that spikes blood sugar... What the hell is left? I'll be out in the field grazing with the cows.

Note on dairy products. I notice a dramatic drop night flights to pee after cutting out dairy products. I noticed if I consumed milk especially close to bedtime, this would happen every time. Prhaps this has some bearing on the subject, perhaps not. Thank you for the informative video..j

Anything sugar related. If you have BPH, avoid and cut out completely sodas, sweets, carbs which breaks down into sugar, pretty much all the good stuff in life.

Oke better question is what can you eat. That is basically every food we eat daily . Plant dairy meat grain rice.

We Asians, particularly from South East Asia, rice is our staple food together with fish, just wondering how we can avoid eating rice without us dying of hunger. Greetings from the Philippines. ❤️

Since I started 16/8 fasting some years back I don't wake up for peeing during night (I am 50+) any longer. I eat mainly low carb during the week but not so much during the weekend, still I sleep through the night. Told a friend about this and introducing 16/8 fasting had the same effect on him.

I have had three urinary retention incidents in the last 24
Months basically because I did not know that everything that I was eating and drinking was causing my prostate to blow up
Like a baseball. Prostate is very serious for all men. I am currently experimenting on myself to find out if I can reduce the size of my prostate and return to normal. It was very encouraging for me to see one
Man in the comments who had reversed his condition. That is what I was looking for because my doctor has never mentioned diet to me once. He only mentions surgery. If eliminating
Dairy, sugar and carbohydrates does not bring me any relief surgery will be my only option but. I can’t in good conscious take the easy way out without even trying to allow my body to
Heal itself by doing everything I can. If this works I will place the
Details in a text so all men can be helped

Hey everyone! I understand the confusion as to which foods not to consume as it appears that high consumption of almost everything is associated with prostate enlargement (or worsening symptoms associated with an enlarged prostate). When making this lesson, I wanted to ensure that all possible evidence on the topic was at least mentioned in this lesson for completeness sake, but I do realize that it has caused confusion. My apologies for the confusion. Again, these data are associations, and do not imply causation. From these studies, it appears best to reduce red meat consumption, consume more plant-based dietary options, and avoid processed carbohydrates (ex. starches). Likely a mediterranean diet would be very good for prostate health (and overall health in general).

An excellent analysis. Thank you. Gents, eat veggies and everything in moderation. He did not mention if sex helps the situation.

The lesson here is to eat tiny amounts of a wide variety of foods, and to never eat any amount that may be statistically significant in a prostate study.

This video seems to contradict a previous one I watched, namely foods to eat to improve your prostrate. It was suggested in that that low fat dairy products were to be avoided at all times and suggested full fat was better ( re reference on cheese in this video). Also no real mention here of grains such as oats and wheat and other carbohydrates which apparently were a no-no in the other video.
I wish someone would get all this straight and supply us with a weekly menu to try for a few months without confusing us!
