When you are hard on yourself, your issues can compound, making it difficult for you to use your tools to address anxiety or OCD.

In this episode, I invited Kimberley Quinlan on to talk about how self-compassion plays a large role in the journey of anxiety and OCD. She talks about why it can be difficult to have self-compassion and the ways in which we can grow and foster it.

Thank you so much for this video! I relate to this so much- I have been struggling with OCD and depression (not sure if its separate or related to OCD) and I was having a hard time with ERP. It felt soo impossible so I tried looking for help. There were no ERP professionals in my network so I went with a therapist that specialized in DBT. I was skeptical at first because I was so focused on my only therapy approach being ERP (which made me feel hopeless), but when I started to explore DBT and learning self-compassion, it changed a lot for me. Even though I am still dealing with a severe case of OCD, I feel capable of approaching ERP and experiencing the discomfort because of all the work I continue to do with self-compassion. I would love to see more on this topic and thank you again for providing such valuable resources!
