Going on roller coasters 47 times won’t stop you from being afraid of rollercoasters. You have to accept that you are afraid of roller coasters and ride them anyway, using the experience as evidence to reframe the fear.

I think the long form of this one talked about 'relaxing into' things and 'resistance'? My philosophy for years was 'suffer', 'embrace suffering' Do hard things, 'burn like phoenix' Like there's paradigms that has it's place. But I realised I've been extremely threat/survival and stressed for years. My normal mode is likely cortisol. I tried your philosophy Julian, Owen, recently. Practiced being my own coach, being kind to myself. Work made some changes to my job role recently. They've made me work counters, tills. Was not a happy chappy. Was really pissed off. Avoided them, took back of house type roles for 20 years. 20 years hiding in the back. Took yours and Owens philosophies on board. Relax into it, and also I'm aware I'm a bit awkward but I said to myself fudge it and that doesn't make me a bad guy. Been doing them all week and a few other changes. Progressing through becoming 'unstifled'. Thanks so much. Hope to attend your events in the future. Done the self improvement grind for years with some results but never quite cut it. This is game changing. God bless you both.

I had huge problems with that.
Then i joined up gym. At start i didnt even go to the gym, sat 3 h on the parkinglot
Then next day i went it at night, saw few people and i didnt workout, just looked around for 20min and left.
1 year in, i can be sweaty, walk around between sets, interact with people and overall act as i dont care(i sometimes even dance and everyone looks)

Maybe other things also contributed, but seeing similar faces, knowing that they dont care, helped.

If we are scared of approaching strangers, to fix it, we must do it to the point that its nothing for us. So??

Challenges and exposure will reveal where is the blockage: and it is always angry people.
De-sensitization will lead to us becoming pushovers and people pleasers to angry people. And that is the problem: being exposed to alcoholic abuse and dysfunctional ambient while growing up - and now we repeat defense mechanisms we learned as kids: to isolate and serve narcissistic abusers.
