I think a lot of those companies got caught up with dazzling people with unnecessary infotainment gadgetry and other internal electronics systems. Its way more complicated than having a bulletproof engine today. And if that stuff goes fritz, your car needs a rocket scientist to get it back serving it's primary purpose as a people mover.

I thought Acura was just a fancy Honda. Honda and Toyota have the best quality. Wouldn’t the quality of Acura track with that of Honda or is there something I’m missing?

Re: Acura, I think we have to pay attention to what he’s actually criticizing/saying. The video is about why he thinks these 6 brands can’t retain repeat customers. Ultimately it’s a “quality” issue, but Scotty doesn’t define what that quality means specifically for each brand. With the first 5, I think it’s safe to assume that the issue is reliability (engine/mechanical/build, etc.). This is why Acura seems odd; it doesn’t typically have those problems. One thing I do remember Scotty saying in previous videos is the value of an Acura vs a similar Honda. That is why I think Acura is on this list. Is the “quality” of an Acura worth the money in relation to a comparable Honda? If I recall correctly, Scotty doesn’t always think so. That might explain why, even though Acura makes a decent car, it can’t retain its customers. If I think I’m just driving an up-badged/priced Honda, I’m less likely to buy another. My two cents. Would be helpful to know where he got the repeat customer data from.

My son’s Acura RL is 17 years old and still going strong. My 9 year old TL with 120, 000 was almost flawless when I sold it to get the RDX I have now. I’m not sure why Acura is lumped with those money pits. It doesn’t make sense to me.

Scotty San never disappoints. I test drove a 2022 Toyota 4Runner SR5 Limited and compared it to the new 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, WL. Both were equipped with real full-time, four-wheel-drive, high and low range. The Toyota rode like a stage coach, heavy, and no power with the anemic V-6. The interior was dated, the tech electronics was pitifully. A decade old and the gas mileage was dreadful and the folks at the Toyota dealership wanted to charge me $5000 over sticker as if this was gods gift to Moses. No thanks, I purchased the luxurious Jeep grand Cherokee Limited with a high tech, modern interior and a powerful Pentastar V6 that gets great gas mileage. SMH.

I have owned an Audi SUV for about 6 years no regrets. I will buy another.
