I worked for Subaru in the early 2000’s. It wasn’t so much the head gaskets, as it was the torque sequence used to torque down the head. The center bolts called for less torque than the outer bolts. A proper fix is to use Fel-pro head gaskets, a good set of head bolts or studs, and to torque all the head bolts to the same spec. I’ve had an excellent success rate with early 2000’s Subarus.

I do know about the early 2000's Subaru was so problematic lol. I remember my uncle used to own a WRX STi blobeye and LanEvo 9 at the same time. I even got the chance to drove both cars. Crazy experience indeed. Both were great cars. But I prefer the LanEvo more.

I have had my Fiat 500 Sport 2012 for 3 years now. And I have no problems, it is an excellent vehicle. Obviously it's manual, because luckily I don't have mobility problems and I'm not 80 years old.
It has everything I want, it has 3 doors, leather seats, sunroof, and it is very small, so parking is never a problem. I would only trade it for a newer Fiat 500 or a Fiat 500 Abarth.

Subarus are reliable and awesome if it's with with EJ20. And the EJ25 is not a bad engine either, usually just poor maintenance and abusive use.

I call shenanigans on your review of the 3.6 Pentastar. I've seen dozens with over 200k miles, I have a co-worker with over 330k miles on his 3.6 Charger and it's still running strong. My 3.6 300 has had no issues. Maybe because they have made over 10 MILLION 3.6 Pentastars that a few of them had a problem. But c'mon man! One of the worst?!? No way.

177k miles on my 07 wrx, no issues whatsoever. No headgasket issue, not burning oil. Very reliable. Just dont abuse them without keeping up with proper maintenence

The turbocharged subaru, especially ej205 do not have had gasket issues, the one who has are NA Subarus in the early 2000s. Do some research please 🤦

I had a 13 Charger with almost 180, 000 miles with the Pentastar. It was a great car that never had major issues. Had it for 9 years and still would if the damn deer hadn't totaled it

Only the early model NA subaru's had headgasket problems. the turbo models didn't.

The early 2000 WRXs did not have the EJ25 (2.5 liter). They had the EJ20T (2.0 liter Turbo). If properly maintained, they last a while. Mine has almost 300K on it (original engine). I have replaced the valve cover gaskets and the timing belt, but not the head gaskets. It does a leak a little oil and gas (need to replace some rubber hose on the fuel line), but never overheats or has any drivability issues.

The 3.6 Pentastar is quite reliable. Above average, though not the best. It's the 3.8 that's unreliable. Jeeps become unreliable because of the aftermarket mods. If left in stock form, they'll go forever without any trouble. Well, except for some of the transmissions. That's why they switched to the ZF tranny. But my '03 Grand Cherokee has the 545RFE that was used in several vehicles and it works like new at over 215K miles.

But yeah, that Ford Focus/Fiesta transmission was terrible. I have a couple of friends who were bit by it. 100% failure rate. Every 30K! And Ford KNEW about it before they started selling it! There was a lawsuit about it. For this reason, I can never buy another new Ford. Can't trust them.

I can’t be the only one that noticed they showed a 6.0 powerstroke when they were talking about the 5.4 triton 😂 8:43

Lol…I have 2001 Subaru Forester that had 356, 879 miles on it before the original radiator leaked on a100 degree day and the engine wasn’t happy. Otherwise, I never had problems with it and treated it with great care. The guy that rebuilt the engine couldn’t believe it, and I’m going to try and get another 356, 000 miles on it.

I had 265k on my 06 hemi charger when I traded it in, was running great but I needed a 4x4 at the time. I miss that car.

Exceptions to every have a 3.6L Dodge Journey with almost 200, 000km that has never been in for engine repair once....knock on wood.

Definitely don't have to pull the engine to do head gaskets on an early 2000s Subaru. My buddy just did one a few weeks ago!

I already bought an early 2000s Subaru, but I’ve got the EJ20 not the 25
