Back in 1988 my Toyota dealer had just started to be an BMW dealer as well. Had my 1972 Toyota Celica in for oil change. While talking to the service manager he said that the BMW was a pile of junk and repair parts cost a fortune. He preferred the Toyota instead. Now this was in 1988 as I previously said. Junk then, junk now.

I would say the only worse thing is any land rover/range rover. They have yet to make a good modern car. Abismal to work on and parts prices and labor are insane.

Sorry Scotty, ok, I don't know about the mechanical inner workings, but I have to disagree with you about the styling of the "7" series. Sure it hasn't changed that much, but I never liked it when an auto maker changes the looks just because other auto manufacturers changes the looks of their cars. I always liked the looks of the 7 series. If you have a car that looks good, stick with it, and just go after new customers.
Look at the F-150 trucks. Years will go by before they change the style, and they still sell a ton.

I met a 7 Series owner a few weeks ago. He paid a few thousand for a very clean car. Mechanics quoted him thousands for basic repairs - he got a shop manual and fixed everything for a few hundred dollars. He said overall it's been very troubkefree and it's beautiful. It's a large car.

When vehicle maintenance is your hobby they can be okay. Its not a fragile car, but preventative maintenance is critical.

I already knew he was going to say bmw. But guess what? I have owned a used bmw for the last 6 years and I've only ever had to fix one leaking coolant pipe, replace battery and that's it. Been reliable daily transport, never broken down.

I remember in the 70’s the knob broke on my opel glove box. I thought $5 for a new one was expensive. He said be lucky it wasn’t a BMW, the same part would be around $50. Dealership sold both brands. Always remembered that.
