This seems like something I’d like to try in preseason but during the season I’ll stick to biking for long endurance and sprints on the field. Tons of pounding for the joints

My Modified version :
Monday- 1.5-2miles
tuesday- 8-12 100 yards sprints/ w a lift
Wednesday- 1-2 mile run
thursday- 6-8 hills at max effort, jog down recovery
Friday- Grass recover run

Honestly not everyone can do it. I've tried it as a cross country and track runner and I actually kept the routine going for like a month. Gave me hella stamina, but you gotta know that you have to constantly drink water and that you will be really sore at the beginning.

again this is specific to on and off season. This would mainly be off season as there’s a lot of timed runs but as an athlete who plays soccer make sure your split is spot on and you stick to it and add anything that will help you that day of training, whether it be Monday : strength and power, Tuesday: upper body French contrast, Wednesday: speed and agility! If there’s stuff you can add, add it in 👌🏼 don’t make your sessions extremely long or too short. A proper athletic warm up and main workout and cool down should take roughly 1.5 hour - if done correctly as athletic warm up can take around 20 minutes to complete. Main workout 45mins, cool down takes 15mins

This isn’t for footballers. You want interval training and sessions with change of direction. No player runs 4 miles non stop

Most of this won’t benefit footballers/soccer players, especially a long slow jog because footballers never just jog in a game, it consists of sprints, walks, rests and jogs and this is what should be done in their running training- a fartlek workout that consists of some Sprinting, jogging and resting. Not to mention that footballers won’t do 5days worth of just running on top of their 6/7 days a week playing football, it’s way to much

Hill sprints and other sprints in general are great. You do not really need long running endurance but sprint speed and ankle training due to continuous sharp twists and turns.

Great work !! See no matter the sport !! Conditioning is condition and wide receivers always had the best conditioning because they always had to run or block balls ⚽️ to the wall !!!

For those you want to get into soccer ⚽️ you can’t run 4 miles in one day with no experience in running because you have to build on it. For example, I started running with at least 1 mile and after my body was used to it for a couple of days or maybe even a week I went to 2 miles then after when my body got used to running 2 miles I started to push myself to get to 3 miles and working on my body to get to 4 miles btw.

as someone who used to run on tracks. do not, run on grass, do your knees a favour. i tore my acl. never been the same player (just mentally scared). bike long distance, do sprints down the length of the field, jog through the breadths. do this for ten rounds (or as many as you can. GLHF.

Running is actully bad for football players biking is better as it is less hard on the legs and it targets the specific cardio we need

I think doing a lot of jogging going affects your slow twitch muscle fibers which isn’t good if you are trying to become explosive

Sprint intervals are way more important for soccer players, sprinting stamina and jogging stamina are different and soccer players need sprinting more than they need jogging.
