Top Ten ways to hop up to your back wheel - all rooted in trials skills but totally possible on any sort of bike.

Coming soon: 5 Back Wheel Drills to help build confidence and versatility for your riding. Easily my favorite trials drill is to see how many different ways I can jump up to my back wheel. So much of trials riding is about problem solving and finding yourself in new and unique situations. Being able to confidently get up to your rear wheel is the best thing you can do.

I'm trying to think of a way that isn't in the list, but all of the ideas I have are just a variation of one of the 10 you've listed!

Hopping on the rear wheel and the front wheel spinning fast looks so cool ! I’ll never get over that ! I always smile and get excited when I see that

Super cool! I can do all of these except wheel swap! I have a question, what’s the difference between lunge and surge?

I can't understand how a human possibly does that? Can you tell me? I cycle daily for 3 hours from when I was 7 but I don't know how to lift the back tyre. Feet can't grab pedals that you just jerk them up like a front wheelie with hands.

I can wheelie really well, manual at least a couple bike lengths and bunny hop about a foot reliably. But i still cant pedal kick to get up on the back wheel. I keep practicing it but its not clicking. Im riding a trek mtb 29er hardtail with a manitou 120mm fork. Anyways im sure ill get it eventually but the power just isnt there yet. Im wondering if i need to be on a higher gear. I also changed my chainring and cassette awhile back and downsized the chainring but recently went back up now that im in better shape but its still only a 32t so im thinking of picking up a 34t soon and hopefully that will put one of my mid gears in the sweet spot.

I tried it on my full suspension mtb, is that harder to practice this skill on?
