I can't wait for us to have a really long chat about Longbourn!

What a lovely vlog, I could watch you talk about your current reading forever. This is something I'm so bad at when I vlog, I never know what to say while I'm in the middle of a book. Was fun revisiting Northanger Abbey through these little snippets. Henry Tilney is such an underrated Austen love interest, he has a sense of humour (unlike a certain Mr Darcy :P). I also like how he connects with Catherine over literature.
Hahaha, I just love John Thorpe talking about horses. He is the worst, but very entertaining. And a very realistic chauvinist.
I wasn't keen on Longbourn when I read it a few years ago. I liked the concept and the plot, but the style and language really put me off. Can't really put my finger on it.

I like the way you take the time to pick out excerpts and read them. Good vlog!

I felt the same way about some of the little twists Jo Baker added to the characters in Longbourn... some of the stuff in the epilogue just seemed thrown in and unnecessary, but I guess Mr. Bennet’s twist did make sense with the story she was telling..

I'm going to rush to catch up with the Northanger Abbey reading this week. I haven't even started reading it yet! I first started reading Ann Radcliffe's books, because of Jane Austen's references to her books. I read Mysteries of Udolpho first, and went on to read others, including "Romance of the Forest, the book that Harriet recommends in "Emma".
Happy REading!

Looking forward to reading Northanger Abbey this week. It’s my last unread Austen.

That's so sweet that your fiancee reminds you of Henry Tilney. 😊 I really liked Tom Jones actually - I had to read it for a class in uni a couple of years ago but yeah if you don't like it with its length that would be tough. 😅 I loved Northanger Abbey when I read it last year but before I read it again I think I will read some of those gothic classics.

This was so fun watching you read through Northanger Abbey! The Thorpes drive me crazy too. And Henry Tilney is such a great character! I didn't realize that people didn't like him. I love when Jane Austen defends the novel and points out what an amazing art form it is. I started reading Longbourn, but I didn't really like the twist made with Mr Bennet and lost interest. Was it worth finishing it in the end?

I started Mansfield Park yesterday and so far i’m not sure how i feel about it.
I love any Jane Austen content so watching your vlog made my day!❤️

I rather enjoyed the way Mrs Bennet, Mary and Mr Collins all get a more sympathetic portrayal in Longbourn. I wasn't too sure about the last part of the book though. Would she really have set off to look for him on foot?
