I always love these vlogs, they are so cozy! Thank you for still wanting to film them :D. I'm embarrassed to say that all I've read for Jane Austen July so far is 33 pages of Celebrating Pride and Prejudice by Susannah Fullerton but I made the mistake of starting too many books back in June and wanted to get those finished before I start my Austen reading in earnest. I still have a lot of my current reads to finish but I am starting a buddy-read tomorrow for Jane Austen Society by Natalie Jenner and I have the audiobook narrated by the wonderful Richard Armitage so I am really excited!

I'm glad to hear you say that Mansfield Park is your 2nd favorite Jane Austen. The novel gets so much hate and I'm not sure why. I love it!! I'm about done with it and got the idea from you to read Lover's Vows, which I hope to start today.

Love the whole vlog but especially the reading while traveling. Reminds me a bit of The Jane Austen Bookclub movie. :)

I am reading Mansfield Park for the first time and so far am loving it, but don't think it will beat my favourite Jane Austen novel, Pride and Prejudice. I also just finished reading Lady Susan for the 2nd time and loved it even more than the first time I read it. :)

Can't wait for the Caroline Bingley video. In the same vein as the biography written by her nephew I want to read the biographies of monarchs written by Agnes Strickland in the Victorian period. I've already finished Persuasion and my nonfiction about dancing and balls. Currently reading Miss Austen by Gill Hornby and hoping to start The Watsons soon.

That's too bad that Sansei and Sensibility wasn't a bit more enjoyable, but it was still interesting to hear about

This is so delightful! Thanks for posting. And your videos are inspiring. I’m about 2/3 through Mansfield Park. I’m really enjoying it in tandem with watching From Mansfield with Love on YouTube. I think you recommended that on a previous vlog.

Lovely vlog. I also was behind for the Mansfield Park read along and continue to be! I had planned on vlogging for it but glad I didn’t now because this month has been a slow one for me. Slow, but very enjoyable nonetheless.

Such a cosy vlog! I'm rereading Mansfield Park for the first time in nearly 10 years for this Jane Austen July - last year's readalong of Emma completely transformed my perception of the novel (for the better!) and the same appears to be happening for Mansfield Park! Enjoying it so much more than before

Thank you for the update - very good vlog. I must confess to having started Jane Austen July back in the later half of the month of June. I just wanted to get started. I've read Pride and Prejudice ( my second reading of this book) and thoroughly enjoyed it. I then bought and read Mansfield Park which consumed every free reading moment I could get before finishing it early last week. My third book is Miss Austen by Gill Hornby ( thanks for the recommendation) which I'm getting through at a fast pace. Really enjoying Jane Austen July so far.

Excited that A Simple Story (that I'm reading for the book contemporary to Austen challenge) is by Elizabeth Inchbold who wrote Lovers' Vows! Didn't realise the link. Loving rereading Mansfield Park, enjoying Charlotte by Moffatt very much, and Elegant Etiquette is fab. So good start!!

This was so lovely. Thus the third time I have participate in JAJ buy Julys akways are a little hectic and I never read as much as I hope and plan. But I was reading Mansfield Park already, after I had reread Persuasion and Northanger Abbey in May, and stumbled upon finishing more prompts by reading a collection that included Love and Friendship and showing a friend The Lizzie Bennet Diaries. So I feel like I might actually be able to be successful this year.

But I am going to look up that play! As I was really struggling because none of her contemporaries intetested me that I haven't already read. But I think it would be really cool especially as Mansfield Park is the only one I don't know anything about how it turns out except that there is contension about who she marries.(but I am unsure if that means she does or doesn't marry Edmund). So it is lovely to read a classic and to know nothing about what will happen.

Elizabeth Inchbald seems interesting
and she was friends with some of the radicals of the time
I have read comment that her novels are more radical
than her plays which were written for the Georgian theatre
which was highly regulated by the government.

As I have been doing the #ReadingEurope2021 challenge
(where we followed the fortunes of allotted teams in the Euro 2020)
So I only start Mansfield Park today
along with an Italian verse novel
"Qualcosa sui Lehman" (translated as The Lehman Trilogy)
As Italy won last night.
