Congrats on your JA Challenge reading!

Glad to see someone reading Charles Lamb! If you have not already, get his essays!! He had a clear and whimsical way of writing!

I've also been reading Mansfield Park this July (not quite finished yet) and resonate with many of your comments. I'm looking forward to reading Lover's Vows

It seems like you really enjoyed diving into the theatrical side of Austen, that's great! If you're going to watch a modern retelling, I'd highly recommend Austenland, it's so funny!! Also thank you for the shout out 😊😊😊

I’m also looking forward to reading the new translation of Metamorphosis. It’s a stunning edition. It is my favourite book and I’ve read it twice before so I’m a bit biased. My thought would be to read the whole thing again as this translation (from what I’ve heard so far) is quite a departure from the existing translations that are out there. So the jump from one translation to this one might be a bit stark. I hope you really enjoy it!

I read The History of England with Cassandra's portraits too! I liked the text and drawings, but the analysis in my version was a little 'she doth protest too much' of academics trying to declare they'd made a big discovery 🙄
