I love how Austenites are in consensus about Henry Tilney being underrated and one of the cutest characters in her canon.

I'm so looking forward to my first Jane Austen July! It's been a while since I read Northanger Abbey. I'll also be reading " A Memoir of Jane Austen" by her nephew J E Austen Leigh, a book I found recently in a vintage Bookshop. I can recommend The Gill hornsby novel
"Miss Austen" as a fan fiction read. The main character is Jane's sister Cassandra.. ❤

I'll be reading Mansfield Park this year as it is the last of the 6 novels I have left. I know it is a lot of people's least favourite, but I am excited to read, if only for the fact I will be done all six. I completely agree about Northanger Abbey. It's not as polished as her other novels, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Some of that may be because Austen's humour is often my favourite part of any of her books.

Yay! I am excited for Northanger Abbey It is my favorite. The ting I love about Austen is her humor, so Northanger Abbey, Lady Susan, and other works that highlight that humor are the ones I love most. I agree with you that Northanger Abbey is her most underrated work.

Hot priest in Northanger Abbey 😂 🙌 I’m reading Sense and Sensibility this year because it fits in with another project I’m planning. Will definitely join in the readalong for Northanger Abbey. Some Juvenalia may happen. The JA contemporary is one I’ve never successfully managed. I may attempt Frankenstein as I’ve wanted to read it for some time. 1995 BBC P&P is chef’s kiss. Lost in Austen is probably going to be a re-watch for me yet again - I think it’s on YouTube and I may have put a link in my tbr video last year. Woo for Jane Austen July!

Yay I forgot this was a thing and your video reminded me! Now I'm in Bath so I'm getting immersed in the Jane Austen universe haha

I loved Seeking Mansfield by Kate Watson (modern day ya retelling of Mansfield Park) and Jane of Austin by Hilary Manton Lodge (modern day Sense and Sensibility retelling). They're both a few years old, but I recommend them.

I love this time year when the JAJ announcements appear. This year I am back around to rereading Pride and Prejudice. Oh joy. I am going to push myself to read the Tomalin biography of JA this year.

Oh Minerva! Disappears before announcing and then does some loud announcing off screen! 😂🐈‍⬛ She had so many opinions on Frankenstein! Excited for Jane Austen July. I’m going to read Sense and Sensibility which is the only one of the big six I have not read yet! 😊

OMG--it's that time of year again! Really looking forward to reading Northanger Abbey now based on your description. I saw the movie, but I think reading the book through Jane Austen's snarky sarcasm and wit goggles will make me appreciate it even more. Thanks, Claudia!

Omg thank you for mentioning ’Fire Island’ which was a funny yet emotional adaptation.

P.S. ‘Bride and Prejudice’ is an underrated adaptation imho.

And I'm definitely participating, perhaps not with all the challenges but surely with some of them, perhaps Emma for the first. The read-along it's going to be amazing!

I think Northanger Abbey is underrated and much fun. I love Henry Tilney. I may try some Fanny Burney and I have an unread copy of Longbourn. Minerva is delightfully extra.
