This is an excellent glutes strengthening & hip flexor stretching exercise for running. It is not coincident that hip flexors tightness and hip extensors (glutes) weakness or inhibition and anterior pelvic tilt (increased arch in lower back) often exit together. These are very consistent with a specific movement pattern. Treating them as individual problems is not only time consuming but also ineffective because they are all related to habitual movement pattern.

Taro, just got to try this exercise with knee pads. It is a workout, but I felt the effect on my glutes right away, and boy are they ever the dormant bit of body in me. Thank you so much as usual and forever. And, that you know, you’re as sweet and helpful as 3 years ago, more thorough now, but short videos are encouraging too. You’ve reached a good middle ground. I work in a factory and I do 12 hour shifts, I am a sanitation worker and I am walking for the whole 12 hours, can't wait to try this out and see if it makes a difference, thanks.

very good taro !!! another hit single !!!! very good lenght of video, i also recommend although it sounds counter-intuitive, to put the explaintion or helping the watcher understand the movement portion of the video(Which isnt in this one) at the end, to make it so people who dont have the time dont have to skip, and people that would like to know can skip. also make sure you make it known at the start that the explaintion is at the end ;) one love <3

Hey this looked easier than it is and really shows me how unbalanced I am that goes beyond being a little weaker on the side with the hip replacement. I have a hard time going slow on all exercises though

Harder than it looks! Im starting with some light support (holding lightly onto a nearby chair). Adding it into my hip strenthening routine. So glad you're doing this now. I have a labral tear that will not be surgically repaired so exercise is what gets me through. Appreciate you so much!

I literally cried seeing this exercise! 😭Thank you so much. I’ve been trying to strengthen my hips from a jet ski accident which resulted to a hip tilt ( R hip higher than L hip) This exercise will do wonders for me lol

As a runner I am always suffering from glute, TFL and hip pain. I do all sorts of strength training but problem persists. This tecnique looks really good. Hard to keep balance, but that just proves how weak my glutes are! I will keep working at it though.

Thank you for your videos. I love them. I have two questions: I want to learn splits, which videos would you recommend? I have stronger calves. I think, everything is just stuck in the area and just wants to flow- so there might be some tension at the ankles etc.. Which videos would you recommend?
