Each person has completely different genetic and physiological makeup. There are going to be a number of factors that are going to influence how much weight somebody can lose. If your starting weight is higher, you could lose more weight. If you have other chronic diseases and medications in your toolbox, those might influence your weight as well. The list goes on.

But the question remains: How much weight can you REALLY lose?

Let's get into it.

Needed this. My sister lost 75 pounds ozempic while I’m 10 pounds. Hard not to be disappointed as she’s never hungry on the meds while I still am and even at a higher dose. Need to stop comparing myself.

Great video. Many thanks. Lost 36lbs from 205lbs starting weight. Took 5 months. At a plateau for last six weeks but need to refocus and reduce calories and increase activity. Finding all your videos very helpful. Thanks for the time and effort.

Great video...30 pounds down since Feb. of this year but let me tell you I had to change the amount of food I consumed. Also, I started roller skating at least 5 days a week and love it! I had to stop looking at the scale for I have gone from a size 14 to a size 8 and a lot of this is due to inches lost and not pounds. Don't get me wrong I love seeing the scale go down but to know I'm extending my life; priceless.

Nice vid Dan, and yes, setting appropriate expectations is really important. 💡

Feeling like you’ve ‘failed’ when you really haven’t is demotivating and could sabotage one’s WL efforts entirely.

Great advice! I lost 54 lbs in 8 mo. (1-2/wk) on 1200 calories, 2x strength training/wk with Mounjaro & 30 more to go. The lowest dose controls my type 2 diabetes, no side effects. I have an appetite but my binge eating disorder is cured. This alone is a miracle. I am happy with slow/steady/sustainable.

I’ve lost 60+ lbs in 7 months on Wegovy, but I’ve also introduced heavy weight training 3x a week and eating much less. I’ve finally been able to start eating semi-normally and at a stable weight of 150 lbs for the past couple of weeks.

This info is very informative once again. Could you possibly advise on a good diet to follow while on these medications?

32% weightloss on Mounjaro, as of 10/15/23. 🙋 I started the 2.5mg starter dose Nov 2022. I titrated up very slowly due to side effects. Currently on 7.5mg dose. (Highest dose I've used). My weightloss has slowed down substantially, but I'm close to my goal
weight. Hopefully I'll start maintenance soon so I can titrate back down.

In 68 weeks I was down 33.53% I'm at 73 weeks now and down 36.48% of my starting weight. I'm on 1 mg of Ozempic weekly, did four weeks at .25 and six weeks at .5 and I've been on 1mg since.

Anyone with a constipation as a side effect of semaglutide - these have helped me personally
- cut down or eliminate salads and raw veggies
- eat only cooked veggies like stir fries, steamed etc
- drink 1 glass of hot (bearable) first thing as soon as wake up in the morning. Then have a heavy veggies based breakfast like stir fried veggies and rice and protein.
- drink at least 1.5L if sedentary, at least 2L if exercise
- engage in exercises that involves jumping up and down like skipping rope
- take magnesium supplements

Thank you, that was very helpful. Im 55, lost 160lbs from VSG almost 3 years ago. After that had both knees replaced and gains 15lbs. I’m currently 228 on Mounjaro for 8 weeks and have lost 5lbs. I also was diagnosed with Graves’ disease and on meds for that. I’ve stayed in a calorie deficit most often but the weight won’t go down. Hoping Mounjaro will help. Can Graves’ disease and methimazole attribute to slow weight loss. Forgot to add, I’m only 5’2. 😊

I agree that diet and exercise changes are needed to maximize your health (and weight loss). However, I strongly disagree that these medications are "nothing special." These medications are a breakthrough for obesity.

I know it's not a fun topic but what constitute Constipation? So far on Ozempic a few times I did not go to the bathroom the whole day and there were days I did not go for 2 whole days. My Mother's home attendant who is not on Ozempic but has issues with constipation told me 2 days without going is nothing as she sometimes doesn't go for a whole week. Just curious on account that i hear people say "it gave me constipation" so I'm wondering if it was 1 day, 2 day 3 or more not going to the bathroom.

I've lost 10kg over 5.5 months from 68kg down to 58kg. No exercises, only 10k steps a day. Started with eating nornally then progressively eating cleaner and cleaner. I still fit chips in my daily diet but only a small portion and the only fruits are now berries.

I'd say Ozempic makes it ALOT easier to stick to a simple and clean diet. However I still had to prepare and cook my heavy veggies based and lean protein meals every week. Whenever I don't, the scale will NOT move at all!!

Honestly the cost of ozempic from the visual point of view, has helped save a lot of cosmetic surgery. Being over weight makes me look older. Now I look younger and feel younger.

I have heard that eventually the food noise comes back. I have had some of that, but only on the weeks my diet is not on point. I dont intend to let Ozempic do all the work for me. I just need some help and I will pull my weight (pun intended) to make it happen.

Although I am curious what Mounjaro can do for me....
