You can add the 4th category:

I got stretch marks on my bicep after I started doing 2 sets to absolute failure with a full ROM, which is right about when you feel the triceps starting contracting, in a 6-9 rep range. Slower negative of course, and leaning forward to avoid excess cheating really helps overload it

the best weight exercises for arm size is doing heavy compound movements, and supplementing that with certain arm movements

There was a Style of training called positions of flexion that was pushed by iron man magazine in the eighties and nineties. Basically what it said was that to train a muscle fully you need a mid range, a stretched and a contracted position exercise. so the perfect bicep workout to them was standing barbell or dumbell curls (mid range or is you call it heavy load), incline dumbell curls (stretch position) and concentration or spider curls (contracted position). In my opinion, still the best way to train

I recently learned about pelican cable curls. Its like incline dumbbell curls in that it really stretches the biceps under load, but its easier on my shoulders.

I have found, from my own personal opinion that with ever muscle, a compound movement and a isolation movement works well. I’ve always had an issue with biceps. It’s just how my body responded! So I started out with an incline bicep curl, so I can isolate it and hit it hard. Then standing barbell curl. Then barbell preacher curl, ending with hammer curl. They started to explode in growth. You have to fool around with various movements and routines to find what works for you, what your body will respond to. Everyone is different!

I do around 3-4 exercises for biceps and get my calories/protein in and they’ve become bigger. Just need to be patient that’s all.
