Okay, I just poured about 2 cups of this mixture on an anthill in my grass. We’ll see what happens. It has been two weeks and it worked! This is the only thing that has worked and there is not a single ant in sight. It took about 3 to 4 days for all of them to die. This was a massive underground ant nest in the middle of my lawn that I had tried numerous products on. This is the only thing that worked. Thank you so much!

The White Sugar and Baking Soda method really works. I had ants coming under my kitchen door from outside. I mixed one part White Sugar with one part Baking Soda then put it in a salt shaker, shook it up, then sprinkled it near where the ants were coming in. The next morning there were no ants in my kitchen. Then I discovered a couple in my bathroom so sprinkled some there and now they're gone too. I didn't bother using the spray bottle method suggested by some as it seemed too complicated. I also didn't go the Borax route as I don't have any use for Borax. Sometimes simple is best. Best wishes to all would-be Ant Terminators.

What I have had success with in the past is dry corn meal. Just sprinkle it where ants will find it, door sills, by pavement cracks where you see them, anywhere where one of their scent trails might cross the corn meal. I pour a thin line at my door sill, by a furnace vent, etc. Leave it a few days, long enough for the ants to find it and carry off a good portion, then vacuum up when I get tired of looking at it. How it works is they will gladly take it as a food source back to their nest. When they start eating it, the ingested corn meal crumb mixes with their body digestive fluid, it swells and bursts them from the inside out. Voilà! Old time solution from long before household chemicals were widely available. Don’t know if it works on all varieties of ants, but it sure worked well on what I had around my kitchen.

Thanks for the info. I'm in an apartment and they're in my kitchen. I've killed several by hand (or foot) already and put some granulated sugar and baking soda in a few places. They seem to be coming in from under my sink and behind the fridge and dishwasher. I will have to get some more baking soda and powered sugar.

I tried this method during the past few days. Unfortunately it isn't working. Now am trying peppermint oil and lemon juice spray. If that doesn't work I'll put vinegar in the mix.

So should we mix with baking soda and sugar with water first >? apply the paste near the holes they enter ?

Ants hate ordinary talc powder. Watch to see where the ants are getting in and sprinkle the talc filling any gaps and holes. Works wonders and is kind to all.

This does not work. Had ants in my house for the first time ever. Plenty of blogs / vids saying that this works. It definitely did not in my case. After a few days of zero effect I went and bought a proper baiting station from the shop. Ants dramatically reduced within 24 hours. Gone after a couple days.

Baking soda mixed with sugar did not work.
