It's been a few years since I've had an ant problem and all of a sudden a bathroom was full of them. Thank you for all the natural methods! And those cedar chips sound interesting for outside

Cinnamon sprinkled around and baby powder mixed with alcohol are the most effective. The others depends of the kind of ant.

cinnamon also keeps aphids away and from laying eggs, I use this on all my houseplants and peppermint oil diluted with water in spray bottles for spider mites and other bugs!

Step 1: Go *outside* and find the area where the nest is located. Almost certainly adjacent to your home's foundation. Then, take the fight to them, outside.

Very handy tips. I have sprayed with vinegar for years and use peppermint oil in the bucket when I wash the floors but hadn't heard of the others.

I had ants take over my home and tried all kinds of ways to get them out.
What works amazingly is I squirt 3 squirts of dish soap in an empty dish soap bottle, then fill it 1/4 way with vinegar, then fill it with water. I squirt this around the outside perimeter of my house every day.
Not one ant, cockroach, spider inside. The plants around my house are fine and healthy too!

Thank you. I would like to add 1 more to the list. Turmeric. I sprinkled some of the spice in the kitchen where I noticed them entering. Within a couple of days, no ants!! It will also kill them if they walk through it.

What a joy to have ants.
The Ant and the Grasshopper
Aesop's Fables
A grasshopper went outside to play one day. It was a hot summer
day, the kind of perfect day for sitting around and talking with friends or
playing soccer or singing a song. The grasshopper loved music, so he took
his violin with him and played it in the park.
As the grasshopper was playing, he saw an ant walk by. The ant was
carrying a heavy piece of corn. It looked like a lot of work. The grasshopper saw the ant but didn’t
think very much about it. He was having too much fun making music in the sun...

I have tried everything but cloves, one effective way is soaking the ants with a hose, do this for 3 days and they will move, for fire ants a tea kettle of boiling water, works. I have citrus trees in pots full of ants, remove the tree and rinse roots with hose then soak in water over night and replant.

Vinegar is a good repellent but good ole Vaseline keeps 'em at bay. They will not walk thru petroleum jelly at all! I have dry cat food bowls in my garage, for some of my kitties. Each year this time, I just take my finger and draw a greasy little line around the perimeter of the bottom edge of the bowl. Works perfectly all summer long and is way cheaper than buying those ant proof bowls. Just have to make sure to keep the floor picked up of the dropped pieces of food.

I have finally realized that if I keep my eye out for their ant hills anywhere outside but especially close to the house and garage & kill the ant hills, the ants don't even show up inside either building. I use either plain boiling water and/or boiling water with vinegar or citric acid.

And lastly, if you can use spray, get some Raid Max. That stuff is the bomb. I have the auto trigger and get refills for it. I've sprayed in the corner of the house where I've had major spider and bee problems for several years, making webs and bees nests around my 4 ft lighted birdhouse and up in the eaves. I sprayed Raid Max around the entire area two years ago and have yet to see any kind of bug there and haven't had to spray again either. I've also sprayed along the base of the house and garage and around all the door jambs, for ants. They haven't shown up at all. Well worth whatever it costs.
