Wtf, you can do 2 “useless” (actually very important for warmup and muscle-mind connection) sets, and then do 3-4 working, hard sets

I start off with 60 pounds for this exercise. Then I move up to 70 for set two. 80 pounds for set 3. Usually, I'm fried by set 4 and only do like 8 instead of 12 reps in sets 1-3.

So don't warm the muscle up at all - just go straight to the weight you can barely do.

If your program is for 3-4 working sets at 12 reps then anything prior to that doesn't count but it doesn't make it useless.

It's the same as a squat day for example. If you plan on doing a 5x5 of 315 you don't just start at 315, start at 135x5 then 185x5, 225x5, 275x5 then your first working set of your 5x5 starts at 315.

The stronger you get the more you can jump up in weight while warming up but this is a good example for this weight range.

You can apply this to any lift however something to keep in mind is if you've already finished training chest and go to train triceps you will only need 1 warm up set if any prior to working sets.

Could this also work for like bench press? I do 4 sets not including a warm up I do one set for 10 then go up and do 8 then go up and do 6 and then do as many as I can with 80% of my max. Would doing this be more optimal for muscle growth?

Any bit of workout you do with a decent weight will build muscle. Period. Its when you have muscles the game changes 😂😂😂 and yes you guessed it im weak as shit

Or he could do 35 lbs and feel the weight slow and contract the muscles at the bottom . Should be a weight you could almost throw around, almost but you will start to feel it near the end
