I like to think of cardio as a workout for your hearts specifically. The heart is also a muscle that needs to be worked out.

Walking, I FINALLY live in a walkable neighborhood. It is SO EASY to pop on my shoes, and make the trek to the nearby train station, and then I'll see a shop I'm curious about and then oh hey what's on the city hall notice board, all the sudden I've been walking for 30 min and it's time to walk back home. It's so nice and I'm able to take a walk every day rain or shine. Not always for an hour but for a bit.

Dancing is my favorite form of exercise. I just pop on some danceable tunes and I feel way more pumped up and feeling good than some exercises and it's enjoyable!!

Friendly reminder that cardio is also really good for your bones and joints in your feet and legs. Which will get weaker when you grow older if you don't continuously walk / do cardio. And if you're like me and hate going on walks outside doing cardio in the gym is basically a necessity

(Friendly reminder that there's many many more reasons to do a workout than just weight loss. Cardio is also really good for your heart)

I do both weight training and cardio I don't understand why every other gym influencer is pitting them against each other as if you can only do one

Idk if someone else said this originally, but my brother always says "the best exercise is, the one that you will do!" And I still stand by that lol

It really is true - just exercise how you like to move. Another neat thing is to follow through on the random motivation spurts; doing that has me working on my flexibility more often as a passive daily activity while also encouraging the happy chemicals from “doing good”.

The secret for me was keeping busy. The time I was spending in the gym (or hobbies, whatever you enjoy) just kept me from constantly snacking and gave me the happiness that kept me from turning to excess calories!

Honestly thank you. As someone trying to keep their weight down the best they can but stresses easily over HOW to do so, this small bit of advice helps so much

This is so true! I have followed this for the past year, its not "the best" but its what i like so i keep doing it, and instead of quitting in 3 or 4 weeks i have been consistent over a year and lost 25kg.

For roughly the last 27 months I've taken between 20k-35k steps every day with 20 hours of intermittent fasting and I've lost (and kept off) 90lbs.

this is similar to some of my favorite advice from my eating disorder therapist— i don’t need to focus on going to the gym or weight lifting, because i hate it! i should swim and go on walks and sometimes run, because that’s something i actually enjoy, and will feel good while doing. if i do those exercises i hate, i end up focusing on how i feel like i need to do them for weight loss even though i’m miserable

I’ve struggled with body issues for over a decade. It wasn’t until my chronic pain issues got really bad and I HAD to do strength training to pain manage that I realized how much more happy I felt in my body when I knew for a fact I was taking care of it. When I was forced celebrate the small things, I realized they weren’t small at all, feeling physically good was the big picture all along.

I was a solitary kid (I liked hula-hoops and swings), and now I'm a sedentary adult. I don't know if I trust the promised "results", but I bought the infinity hoop belt thing and actually had to remove one of the 2-inch belt notches in <30 days. It might've just been water weight/post psm-bloat, but I don’t care. I've rediscovered why I loved to hula-hoop a kid. Since it's something I actually enjoy, I am motivated to do it. And once it becomes a habit, I can try adding something else.

I'm trying to get in shape & I do both strength training & cardio. People seem to forget that while it can vary depending on what you're doing for cardio, it can also build muscle.

You should have seen my legs when I was a competitive roller skater, I NEVER did strength training but my legs were incredibly defined with muscle.

Huge advice tbh. Just picking and doing the thing I hate the least would really actually be helpful in a lot of areas of my life. 😅😊

Cardio and weight training are both great for many reasons. I hate doing weight training but I've added it to prevent injury, and prevent things like osteoporosis down the line. I do prefer cardio and endurance activities though. It helps me mentally and i like how cardio strengthens the heart.

I started taking walks to get healthier, I was enjoying it so much that I walked too much and overworked my feet leading to me getting sesamoiditis. So I'm currently resting my foot and taking way shorter walks to get better, but it's kind of sad because I felt so much better in mind and body before, and the fresh air was great.

I know that being part of a class where i feel like im learning a skill would motivate me in a way that lifting or running never would. Dance, kickboxing, karate. Thats what i will stick with.

Its a moot point because im 9 months pregnant rn, so i am walking my dog a block and im done.
