having boundaries and enforcing consequences (legal, loss of benefit, financial) will increase your odds of successfully managing the narcissist if you cannot go no-contact.

I've found that many of them simply walk away while people are talking, or start yawning on the phone, or just say goodbye, then hang up!

I realise that you were talking about times when a solution is necessary though, so walking away isn't the answer. 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️

They should not be allowed to raise kids but usually if they re covert and women, they get most of the custody.
That's social insanity and justice is very good at that.

Like having to give them money to take out the trash. Stupid stuff I have to deal with on a daily. I do my best not to have a conversation with the narcissist.

Deadeyes and yes or no answers only…. That’s only if you have to be around an actual true narcissist. But yeah otherwise don’t communicate at all, become a ghost, come to videos like this for reinforcement until you forget, practice self care and poof you are better…. I should add that it could take some time.
