You’re absolutely right Peter…that young son of the housekeeper …it was heartbreaking to hear him say how much he trusted and counted on Alec to look after himself and his “vulnerable adult” brother. I wanted to give him a hug. Horrible…

All of this is so confusing. Assuming he didnt do it - he left his phone in the house, went down to the kennels, mucked around, went back to the house, took a shower and put on fresh clothes, didnt hear any gun shots, went to his mom - if this was his story he would never have been charged. Leaving his phone and lying about his whereabouts means he knew something - and that means all was not okay when he drove to his mom - and that makes him the psychopath.

The way Dick was condescending to that young man, making out that he was just basically stupid for trusting all these high profile people, my disgust meter went over the top. Dick lived up to his name today. Hope the Jury felt the same.

I initially thought the same thing about Satterfield 's testimony just showing Alec is a scumbag, but then a thought occurred to me. How do you show someone is a sociopath without a medical examination? And this is a prime example of sociopathic behavior. He approached them at the mother's funeral. It seems like bonds are only something to manipulate people with to Alec.

As far as that being usual in SC; I have been a witness twice in SC criminal court, and once in civil court. In all cases I showed up to court having no idea why I had been called, showed up at the courthouse in a suit with a subpoena, and got stuck in a room somewhere. One time they told me they didn’t need me, the other times I got up there, they asked me questions, I said I had no idea, and they had me read some stuff. In all of these cases they stuck me in a room so nobody would see me. Based on this experience, in cases which were much lower stakes, I think the witnesses being in court is pretty strange.

Congratulations! 🎉 I am so very happy for you. I have been here for 18 months or so…I think…and I could not be more proud of you! 🥳 And you deserve it all! I don’t comment very often, but I watch all the time…pretty much daily! Pretty much the rerun crew. Love how positive you are and all of the honesty and goodness you put into the world. 💕

Peter, Your recaps are the best. I watched EDB today, but still tuned in for you at night.

He may have been calm on the phone talking to his friend, he was also silent on the phone when he reported the murders before the operator connected. He suddenly starts crying on cue so yes he can fake it!

So close to 200K. Congratulations Peter. Love your nightly recap. Loyal part of the rewatch crew as I watch after I put the kids to bed.

I had a friend die, at 45, from cirrhosis of the liver from alcohol. I never knew she had a problem.

re: Tony Satterfield...the fact that Poot called him unsophisticated, was vile to me. additionally, Alex set up the entire insurance claim with ZERO intention of EVER giving those boys the money. he knew the very minute that Paul pushed Gloria on the steps, that he could make a "friendly insurance claim" against his umbrella policy and keep the 5M for himself. ALSO, the entire investigation was either botched, or not thorough, BECAUSE of the Murdaugh name. It's embarrassing for our state. ugh

As far as the FBI taking one year and not asking the manufacturer for help, he also testified that the FBI can search for things the manufacturer doesnt know about

I felt that Tinsley may have had a whole different reason for giving that money. Both lawyers treated Miss Smith in fairly disrespectful way. I felt like they may as well have referred to her as the “ hired help” . I also felt some of southern baptism racism coming into the trial. When you consider that this lady was looking after Alex mother and father in their most vulnerable days and Tinsley has had cancer and been looked after in his most vulnerable times by nurses and then saw the way she was treated on the stand I can understand why he would want to donate $1000 to her. Nurses helped save his live. He had stage 4 cancer.

Peter, I'm so thankful for you and your recaps. I watched this trial last year in the summer as replay crew with EDB and discovered your podcast on it last week. I always love hearing different takes and it is much better for my screen time that i can listen to your as a podcast off line. Knowing all i know now about everything Murdaugh it is hard to hear you siding with not guilty, but you are right and EDB and us agreed it was a confusing mess up until David Owens testified. I can understand why ppl knowing this case push so hard all the guilty possibilities and it shows why its important having jurors who dont have that knowledge so they can just hear what was presented as evidence in the trial. Im looking forward to hearing you convinced, for me it was his steps with his phone, the suspicious trying to get Blanca and Miss Shelly to lie/fudge about his timeline and outfits which happened RIGHT after that 3rd interview with David Owens where they revealed the snapchat videos and he knew they had proof he was at the kennels. My personal theory, he used the side by side, carried guns with Paul earlier, had a change of clothes, went down after dinner, was spraying with the hose to have water already there and then would use that to clean himself up. After shooting them, he scrubbed real good with soap to remove blood and GSR off skin, changed his entire outfit and double or triple bagged it. Guns got wrapped in the blue tarp. Drove side by side back to main house, called Maggie, possibly went in house or maybe his car to get out ASAP to start calling folks and make his alibi. He got to his moms house and burned clothes in smokehouse in back. Guns stashed somewhere at Almeda, i think hidey hole, rummors of drug running and Moselle used to be owned by drug smuggler and i personally think thats what Alex was doing where his money went until he could get it overseas. He owns many small islands in South Carolina that dont have good hunting purpose but would be excellent lookout...

Tinsley should have given his donation anonymously, then it wouldn't have been an issue at all. I think it was a little bit showboaty for him to do it in his own name. And I think you're right he really despises Murdaugh. Rightfully.

I live in a small town about an hour from Colton County, and I have gone to a few murder trials in my county, and they have been nothing like what I’ve witnessed in the Murdaugh trial. Also it sure happens, I was with my ex for 9 years before I found out about his addiction.
