Yeah, I heard people say they wouldn't have brought this case, but this prosecutor not only brought it but worked hard and won it. Kudos to Waters and his team.

Also the fact he never worried about buster, and never blamed himself for not being there, are things that were huge for me

I'm shocked nobody had anything to say in Alex Murdaughs defense. None of Maggie's family either..

I don't understand how the video wasn't enough for some. If the prosecution had a fingerprint placing someone at the scene of a murder, it would be enough. The video was the fingerprint.

If possible, would love to see your dad's analysis considering he's prosecuted and defended criminal cases. Thank you for your hard work!

I saw where one interviewer asked someone if all law enforcement in SC was that incompetent? The person insinuated that it was by design. It is hard to prosecute a case when the officers don’t follow protocol and don’t do a proper investigation because someone is either afraid of or deliberately not doing their job because a prominent name is involved. I believe that Sled had people, on that first night, who may have failed to do their job because of the Murdaugh name. By the time the higher ups in Sled decided to really investigate him, it was too late. I also believe the reason AM called all those people was to further contaminate the crime scene. Review the boat investigation. There were 20 officers who didn’t even test Paul for alcohol levels despite him being obviously drunk and passengers saying he drove the boat. It was the hospital who tested him because he was so belligerent. By that time even though he measured 3 times the legal limit, it was probably higher at the scene because a significant amount of time had passed, because Paul refused to transported to the hospital at first.

Peter just want to say you are the best coverage. I looked at other layers, but your insight and coverage was the best ! Thank you. Great job!

I think you’ve just made the most pertinent point that the rules are different for AM, he always thought those rules did not apply because of who he was

I believe the judge was admonishing AM specifically about when he testified, after he was asked about that day of the murders, his response was 'It was just another ordinary day" even though, in actuality, his world was closing in around him. And the judge meant he was lying to everyone bc it was NOT JUST an ordinary day. His life was on fire.

Heard Judge Newman lost his son 3 weeks ago. He knows personally of great loss. So sad on so many levels.

Hi Peter. Thank you for your coverage of this trial. I think the judge wasn’t having a cheap shot at Alex’s lawyering skills. What I heard was the judge making the point about Alex’s statement, about the day of the murders being an ordinary day, despite the “storm” he was facing from everything unraveling so to speak. That the judge found that not to be credible and had he made that sort of argument as a lawyer in court, he would have lost the argument. I could be wrong, but that’s how I heard it. 😊

I found the entire trial incredibly sad. Even the Judge seemed sad to have to sentence him. I didn’t want him to be guilty and I’m still not convinced he did it. Either an innocent man is in prison or Alex is a sociopath with no conscience. Either way, just incredibly sad for Maggie, Paul, Buster and the rest of AMs family. All their lives are forever changed. Heartbreaking.

If murdaugh couldn’t admit that he was “wealthy” to a community of people who may not have as many resources as he enjoyed while being part of the good ol (white) boys club, that could be a slap in the face to someone who struggle to survive.

#replay. The sadness of all this is that Maggie & Paul were brutally murdered & Alec brought down the family in this way. We have seen family murder family over far less situations. Very sad situation! I feel for Buster😢 Don’t know his knowledge or part but he has lost his mom brother and dad The jury found guilty in spite of the pros!!!

So sick of the thinking everyone thought that the financial crap made everyone think oh your bad so I am going to vote him guilty. That is so unfair. Honestly the financial crimes was only a mini piece of the puzzle. It really carried no weight. The juror said the same thing. So wrong for beating up on the jury.

Three things convinced me that he was still lying during the trial: the stories about the badge (going with it to the hospital, not aware or not remembering why the badge was hanging out - ridiculous); he not remembering a single case where he lied and looked in the eyes of the victims; not remembering why he did all the steps he did after he arrived home - this was actually funny!

This added to the video at the kennels was more than enough for everyone with an IQ over 40.

I don't agree with "it may be the monster you become comment." This is who he is. He was lucid in the interviews right after it happened. He's not insane. He made a choice

Peter as precious as you are, you kept saying with utmost certainty that the state hadn’t met their burden, as a paralegal of 20 years, I could see that they had. I’d like your dads input on future criminal cases to see what he thinks!
