People who experience heartburn at least two to three times a week may have gastroesophageal reflux disease, or GERD. The most common symptom of GERD, heartburn, is estimated to affect 10 million adults in the United States on a daily basis. Heartburn is experienced as a burning sensation in the center of the chest, which sometimes spreads to the throat; there also may be an acid taste in the throat. Other symptoms include:

●Stomach pain (pain in the upper abdomen)
●Non-burning chest pain
●Difficulty swallowing (called dysphagia), or food getting stuck
●Painful swallowing (called odynophagia)
●Persistent laryngitis/hoarseness
●Persistent sore throat
●Chronic cough, new onset asthma, or asthma only at night
●Regurgitation of foods/fluids; taste of acid in the throat
●Sense of a lump in the throat
●Worsening dental disease
●Recurrent lung infections (called pneumonia)
●Chronic sinusitis

1. Decrease fried foods.
2. Avoid large meals.
3. Avoid chocolates.
4. Avoid coffee, alcohol, citrus, carbonated juices etc. and tomato products.

Modify your lifestyle:
1. Eat small meals.
2. Exercise.
3. Wear loose clothes.
4. Three hours before you lie down.
5. Sleep on incline.
6. Clean up your diet.
7. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables.
8. Drink lots of water.

I've had horrible gerd for over 3 years. I was taking pepcid for about a year. About a month ago I found your channel and started using your recipe of 1 teaspoon turmeric, dash of black pepper and honey to taste in warm water. I haven't used pepcid once🙏🙏🙏🙏

This is really good straightforward advice. No nonsense such as baking soda to reduce acidity. Addressing more of the causes rather than masking the problem. Keep up the good work doc. God bless you. 🙏🏽

These things might help a little bit but the biggest thing that has help my reflux is adding in betaine HCL with pepsin with my meals and you might need digestive enzymes to. Most peoples stomach acid is way to low nowadays, not to acid like your doctor might have told you. Betaine HCL with pepsin will help you break down protein and the enzymes will help break down veggies, fat from the meat you eat, dairy and so on. You can find videos on it here on youtube.

I have been suffering from acid reflux with stomach pain and chest pain for the past 9 months! I go through pain every day! I do not know what else to do! I've been taking so many antibiotics and nothing... I wasn't going to work anymore, until I came across Dr. Emovon on YouTube. Thank you for doing everything that you do and helping me during a hard time. I'll definitely spread this to the whole world, I'm totally free from acid reflux..👏👏👏

Additionally, for excess issues with acid reflux, I would courage a 6 hour gap between last meal and going to bed. Consider adopting ETRF (early time restricted feeding) as one way to avoid rough nights fighting acid reflux.

All good advice. I would like to add watch the spicy foods. Also sleep on an incline is good as mentioned yet also if you sleep on your left side it is helpful because of the positioning of your body parts acid is less likely to come up as laying on your right side.

I've been suffering from heartburn for 1? years. I lost 15kg and could hardly digest any food. I was on PPI for a year or so. I had given up hope that one day I would be off PPI. Even with the PPI, I was in pain almost every day, even though I was very, very careful about my diet and lifestyle. I'm 26 and a man. I watched this video yesterday 08/28/23 and today 08/30/23 is my first day without PPI. I woke up this morning by drinking a tablespoon of cider vinegar diluted in a glass of water before having breakfast. Strangely, I didn't feel any pain in the hours that followed, although before when I forgot to take a PPI I could hardly move due to the pain.... I then ate a fairly hearty meal at lunchtime, but with a tablespoon of cider vinegar diluted in a glass of water again before eating. And still no pain even after a few hours. Tonight I had eaten chicken at a fast-food restaurant and had a cheesecake for dessert. Bedtime now and I am feeling very very good.
I'd like to thank Dr.Mandell for these health tips. You are a lifesaver.

I've been on a keto diet for about 6 months and lost 45lbs. But I've developed a bad case of acid reflux that I've never had. It's made me really consider giving the diet up!

Thank you so much Dr. Mandell, 6 months ago I started having acid reflux but I didn't know, I used to cough a lot, when I visited the ENT specialists, that is when he told me that my throat is having inflammation due to the acid reflux n another cause could be due to my dental caries. I used to take milk tea n smoking without breakfast, now I have changed my lifestyle n I can see the improvements.🙏

I was able to relieve the majority of my LPR symptoms by using a mixture of: 1cup alkaline water & ½ Tablespoon of baking soda. Put inside an emptied out nasal spray bottle and spray in mouth or/and nose as necessary.

I'm grateful, in my family we grew up with 17:30 supper. I'm still practising that, though at times I'm a bit late around 18:00 or 18:30. I don't like to sleep on a very full stomach. Thank you Dr Mandell for sharing this with us.

Thank you Dr. M, I'm a caregiver and recently took a client to the Dr. and chocolate was mentioned for the caffeine, however I didn't realize there was something in it that allowed for more
acid to come up the esophagus. Thank you for all the wonderful education.

I have "severe gerd" & found that if I drink water w/lemon & ACV every morning, it does the trick! Got off ALL heartburn meds bc of this! Had a cup last night b4 bed bc I had some acid reflux after dinner. And always brush afterwards bc the acid on your teeth will strip the enamel.
