see, i work with children and sometimes play act as though i’m a mermaid. it’s kind of annoying when they try to catch you in a lie, but i know that’s just how they’re having their own kind of fun and asserting their “maturity”. if adults were asking why they could see the outline of my legs inside my mermaid tail, i’d simply lose it

I used to do Tudor reenactments. The place was pretty close to an RAF (or might have been army) base, so there were frequently military helicopters flying overhead.

Our official(ish) guidance was to gaslight the heck out of anyone who pointed them out, up to and including suggesting that they were seeing things and ought to go to the still room (basically apothecary) for a remedy 😅
