Unlike lots of good things in life, "there are no side effects to breathing." While food supplies energy, "we get most of our energy through breathing." Healthy breathing and sleeping habits, plus movement and whole foods, are foundational to health I find.

This describes perfectly how I think I was breathing at work. I felt like the adrenaline was pumping all the time and I was having panic attacks. I was signalling to my body that I was in danger and was constantly in fight or flight mode. Since I’ve controlled my breath I literally feel like a different person. I can’t believe something so simple can be so life changing.

Inhale to 4 hold to 4 exhale 6 hold 2 or breath a box 4x4x4x4 try 5min minimum, 10 if you can push it. It serves as an anchor right when you start work. You can also use it first thing in the morning.

I’ve recently ditched the Instagram account and started practicing meditation, daily stretches and breathing techniques - I became aware of how my breathing was very shallow and I had a lot of neck and shoulder tension - it’s work in progress to readjust but I’m feeling the benefits already

I can’t recommend breathing exercises enough, since doing the 5 in 5 out through the nose( Oxygen Advantage by Patrick Mckeown) my blood pressure has gone from av 140/90 to 115/70 that’s a miracle for me 😊 having high bp for 20+ years also the palpitations I’ve been having since covid started have basically almost disappeared, it’s been life changing for me and everyone should know about this 🙂

100%! I'm a breathwork teacher and I've noticed that when I give my clients a simple breathing practice twice per day, morning and night, and hold them accountable to do it, it helps them stay connected and aware of their breath in general at work or play. A daily practice is key!

James Nestor! Thank you for writing one of the greatest books. I’ve been practicing my breath hold walking for a while and I can max out at fifty steps, by taking my shoes off and grounding gets even better, it gives me so much energy and I can easily do fifty plus push ups. Thank you.

I agree with the breathing first thing before I get out of not fun to wake up with a nervous heart and mind. The timed breathing really helps. I try different timing. today I did, breath in for 4 hold for 6 and exhale for 7. I have done the box method too.

I listened to an interview with this chap about March last year and it has been the most rewarding journey - I don’t regret much in life but if I discovered breathwork before drugs I don’t think they would have taken hold like they did.

Vastly superior.

Qigong is powerful!! This ancient art of breathe works should be taught at school.

Striking how fast it can make a difference too. After just a few deliberate slow inhales and exhales I can feel my shoulders relax significantly.
