Does Calvinism Teach God is the Author of Sin?

While not all Calvinist hold to this view, it is a required doctrine to hold if one truly adheres to Calvinistic theology, because according to Calvinism, God is not sovereign unless He is sovereign over all. But is this truly what the Scripture teaches? Absolutely not! James 1:13-15 reveals that we sin when we are draw away of our own lusts.

Both the LBC and WC confirm that Calvinism says God determines all things, which would include sin

Acts 2:23 says, "Him, being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God, you have taken by lawless hands, have crucified, and put to death." The "Him" is Jesus Christ. Notice Christ was delivered to die "by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God." It is God that determined and knew before time that His Son would die on the cross at the time appointed. Yet the reset of the verse says "you, " which are the ones who did what was next, they took Jesus Christ "by lawless hands, have cruficied, and put (Him) to death." God is the One who decreed the greatest sin of all time, the death of His Son Jesus Christ, yet the blame goes to sinful man.

The false premise here is that if God decrees all things, then He is to blame for all things in terms of a moral judgment against Him. The Bible doesn't support either. The scriptures shows that God is sovereign and decrees, and yet sinful mankind is responsible and accountable. This is a Biblical example of an antimony, where two schools of thought seem to be contradictory and yet are shown reasonable. It's like God being One God, yet being Triune. It's like the Bible being authored by God and yet being authored by man. They boggle the human mind because we can't comprehend the mind of God (Romans 11:33-36). God's attributes of sovereignty shouldn't be rejected or belittled because we logically deduce that it would make God the author of evil. While in normal circumstances that logic would follow, the premise is false because we're dealing with God, who is not like sinful man.

And most objections in these areas of God's sovereignty and man's responsibility is actually anticipated in scripture; it is asked and answered in Romans 9:14-24. This is not an invention of Calvin, therefore quoting him as if he is the creator of these doctrines is misleading. All he is doing is commenting on it. Notice your quotes says God planned or decreed it, but you're the one who is defining it as God being the author of sin. That isn't a Biblical based response, but an emotional one that seeks to "protect" God by saying He doesn't decree all things. In doing so, your "protection" now changes God's attributes to suit either your own sensibilities or embrace the attributes you like about God while ignoring the ones you don't.

So true! God ceded free agency to man (at least on this planet) and man's own sin unless paid for, will be what separates him for eternity. Few fathom all implications of an eternity with a precocious monster who decrees men to Hell.

It's the logical conclusion of their system. That they try to explain it away or ignore it is understandable on an emotional level. But for those of us not under the spell, it's just painfully obvious that the God of Calvin is a God who wills and takes pleasure in causing people to sin (and then takes pleasure in punishing them for it).

Yes, God is omniscient & has complete knowledge of the past, present, & future of our sin. However, the knowledge God possesses of our sins does not mean God will’s us to sin—he only permits us to perform the act out of love towards our free-will.

Man has no free-will under the Calvinist system & is boiled down merely to a puppet. This contradicts 2 Peter 1:4 in man being partakers in the divine nature. It contradicts man being made in the likeness & image of God—being void of rationality & autonomy.

Read 2Samuel 24. God moves on David to call for a census but David owns his own sin.

Way to underline the parts you want people to pay attention to, so that they don't think you're lying.

“I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.” Isaiah 45:7. You have a podium and are teaching and putting this on you tube and you don’t even know what the bible says?no wonder we are in the last days to me. Locusts with tails that sting like scorpions.

Yes on Calvanism the answer is always "did it happen?" Then God did it.

At some point you need to admit that some things are above our understanding and just believe WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS! That said, Calvinism is biblical and fully supported by Scripture.

People who object to Calvinism simply don’t understand it.

The doctrines commonly referred to as the “5 points of Calvinism” ARE Biblically supported. When one takes into account the TOTALITY of Scripture and reads it in the appropriate Biblical CONTEXT one will see that they ARE biblically supported, as is the doctrine of original sin. I mention the doctrine of original sin because it’s imperative to understand that in order to truly understand some of “Calvinism”. On a side note, I couldn’t care less about Calvin the man. I am referring to the DOCTRINES that are commonly referred to as the “5 points of Calvinism”

Scripture is LITTERED with examples of God choosing and not choosing people. Some to Salvation, and sadly others to destruction. EVERY SINGLE one chosen for destruction was deserving of it. That is why the doctrine of original sin is so important to understand and keep mind. God remained HOLY and JUST in His Judgements ever second of every minute of it.

Have you never read the Old Testament? There are MANY examples of God choosing some and executing Judgement on others. Some of them to destruction were women and children. We can also rightfully assume that some of them were pregnant women carrying children yet to be born. Is that a hard pill to swallow? YES!!! It absolutely is. But again, He is God and we are NOT! We won’t and can’t understand it all as He does. We need to humble ourselves and remember that God is Sovereign and His ways are ALWAYS appropriate and Just. They are also higher than our ways. How dare we try to impose our feelings, our will, or our “understanding” upon Him.

“For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.”
‭‭
Romans‬ ‭9:15-16‬ ‭

With due respect, The Bible literally says “predestinated” and also speaks of being “elected” or of “the elect”. When read in the correct Biblical context it means just that.

“For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.”
‭‭
Romans‬ ‭8:29-30, 33‬ ‭

“having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
Ephesians 1:5

in whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭1:11

Jesus also said….

“No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.”
‭‭John‬ ‭6:44‬ ‭

Jesus was absolutely clear, you must be “drawn” by God to be saved. Even your “decision” to believe is work of God Himself. And yes, this verse means exactly what it says.

Also,

“And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭16:17‬ ‭

Again Jesus said,

“And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.”

‭‭Luke‬ ‭8:10‬ ‭

Also

“I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.”
‭‭John‬ ‭17:6‬ ‭

“And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.”
‭‭John‬ ‭17:11‬ ‭

“While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.”
‭‭John‬ ‭17:12‬ ‭

**Them that thou gravest me**

I would point you to the following passage. Ask yourself, who are you and I (the clay) to say to God (“The Potter” in this passage) “Why hast thou made me thus”? 👇

“Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.

Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will?

Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?

Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭9:18-21‬ ‭

God made one “for honor” and one “for dishonor”

I know that might make some people uncomfortable, but it’s what Scripture says. Be thankful and find comfort in being chosen! 🙂

“Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, That he may dwell in thy courts: We shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple.”
‭‭
Psalm‬ ‭65:4‬ ‭

** whom Thou choosest** and **causest to approach unto thee**

Also,

“For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.”

‭‭Jude‬ ‭1:4‬ ‭

“who were BEFORE OF OLD ORDAINED TO THIS CONDEMNATION”….. I don’t know how else you interpret this passage other than that some were in essence “marked” FOR condemnation.

This is by no means an exhaustive list of passages supporting the doctrine, but it’s enough to make the case that it IS biblically supported.

Remember…..

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.

For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
‭‭
Isaiah‬ ‭55:8-9‬ ‭

A Calvinite Fool is always right in his eyes before anyone says anything. The only way he can hear anything, is to come down in intelligence to the level of the Calvinite fool. But the problem is, he will still win every argument with you because the Calvinite fool will beat you with experience!
