Hurricane Helene has catastrophic impact on Carolinas

North Carolina officials pledged to get more water and other supplies to flood-stricken areas by Monday after Hurricane Helene left a trail of destruction across the U.S. Southeast and the death toll from the storm rose to nearly 100.

At least 91 people across several states were killed. A North Carolina county that includes the mountain city of Asheville reported 30 people killed.

Gov. Roy Cooper predicted the toll would rise as rescuers and other emergency workers reached areas isolated by collapsed roads, failing infrastructure and widespread flooding.

Supplies were being airlifted to the region around the isolated city of Asheville. Buncombe County Manager Avril Pinder pledged that she would have food and water to the city by Monday.

“We hear you. We need food and we need water,” Pinder said on a Sunday call with reporters. “My staff has been making every request possible to the state for support and we’ve been working with every single organization that has reached out. Between the Army, Marines and Air Force units in North Carolina with helicopters Ospreys and man power……… where are they? Excellent opportunity to practice mobilization and dispersal training while providing rescues and delivering supplies, clearing roadways et. ? ? ?

Prayers help, but don't count on your politicians to care about you. If your insurance company says they won't pay you to get your home fixed, you need to see this. This just came out on 60min. It's happening in many states by several companies. I'm not surprised, they gave your money to politicians instead of people who needed it.

OUR NEIGHBORS TOOK REFUGE IN A NEIGHBORS HOME ON THE HILL AND WERE SPARED. WE WERE ABOUT 18 FT ABOVE THE RIVER 300 FT FROM WATERS EDGE AND WATER ROSE TO SOMEWHERE ABOUT ANOTHER 15 FT SO 30 FT ABOVE THE RIVER. WE ARE NORMALLY IN NC TIL LATE OCTOBER. THIS YEAR HEALTH ISSUES KEPT US FROM GOING . GOD WORKS IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS, WE ARE BLESSED. FUNNY THOUGH THERE IS NO, NONE, COVERAGE OF DAMAGE IN YANCEY COUNTY AND IT IS SEVERE ASHEVILLE GETS THE COVERAGE BUT YANCEY, MITCHELL, MADISON AND AVERY NEED OUR PRAYERS AND OUR HELP!
