Hurricane Helene has left much of the southeastern U.S. reeling after it carved its way through parts of Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and several other states, and has some asking how the storm got so bad, so fast.

Near record sea surface temperatures and a lingering rain system over parts region are two of the causes experts are pointing to.

As Sean Previl explains, there were multiple factors that came into play not only before the storm even formed but even as it moved inland and started losing strength.

I was wondering how this hurricane seemed to do more damage in North Carolina than Florida? Seemed like Florida wasn't hit as bad as N. Carolina was and it hit Florida as an actual cat 4 hurricane. Usually when a hurricane hits i think "ok this storm is now way less strength" but this one seemed the opposite.

Amateur radio operators have been setting up an active emergency communications network in the disaster struck area. They often provide the only means of relaying welfare checks and coordinating help. These people are modern heroes if you ask me.

Weather modification is the act of intentionally manipulating or altering the weather. The most common form of weather modification is cloud seeding, which increases rainfall or snowfall, usually for the purpose of increasing the local water supply.[1] Weather modification can also have the goal of preventing damaging weather, such as hail or hurricanes, from occurring; or of provoking damaging weather against an enemy, as a tactic of military or economic warfare like Operation Popeye, where clouds were seeded to prolong the monsoon in Vietnam. Weather modification in warfare has been banned by the United Nations under the Environmental Modification Convention.

"Climate change is a Western imagination aimed at slowing down China's rise, " stated Chinese 🇨🇳 Xi Jinping. LOL
So, he keeps building coal-fired power plants.

Natural disasters like this make a carbon tax seem insignificant. Would you rather pay more to reduce carbon emissions or have disasters like this happen every few years. It not just the rebuilding either. Events like this are a massive disruption to the economy.
