At least 223 people have died and hundreds are unaccounted for in the destruction wrought by Hurricane Helene since it made landfall in Florida on Sept. 26.
More than a week later, some residents and communities remain isolated, hundreds of thousands are without power, and spotty service has made communication difficult.

Yes, I was in a hurricane years ago, Cat 4, and rebuilding my property was my responsibility from my homeowners insurance, not from any local or federal government help, and if you don’t have adequate homeowners insurance with flood insurance and no savings you’re sumpnk! That’s why so many people never returned to New Irkeans after Katrina…no insurance money to rebuild. After the Hurricaine I was in I did get insurance money but not enough and I eventually ran out of my savings and lost the house….Even though I tried to rebuild…I ended up wiped out! The only thing I had left was my ability to work!

Thousands are already finding in Florida that if they dintbhave flood insurance then their homeowners insurance companies are refusing to pay claims…..and they’re losing everything…Florida is expecting a housing crash because of this disaster.

Even with insurance you risk not being adequately compensated. There are ppl in FL battling hurricane insurance claims from a few years ago. Sons of the companies are accused of changing the adjuster’s reports. We need better regulations and oversight. Ppl have gone through enough to not have to fight for something they have paid for. Who has the mental muscle for the unnecessary foolishness? Praying this will not be case for these ppl. Pray they receive above what they need to rebuild and thrive again. In Jesus name. Amen🙏🏽❤️
