Hurricane Helene damage in North Carolina

North Carolina residents are continuing clean-up efforts after massive flooding and mud spread Hurricane Helene debris across towns. CBS News' Janet Shamlian has more from Charlotte.

I lived in Charlotte for almost 3 years and my ex-husband wanted to move to Ashville back then. It's a beautiful town but I refused to. Today we will be experiencing the same terrible situation or would have been gone like so many missing people. My heart goes to those who lost their loved ones in this natural disaster.

The US government should print more dollars and help all people affected by the hurricane. They are able to print dollars to fund wars and instability around world why not make those dollars for good use at home.

The tragedy in NC is still yet to come as most of those whose homes were destroyed had no flood insurance coverage. There will likely be entire towns that will not be rebuilt as a result with families cast into financial ruin.

Why are you in Charlotte? There is so much damage in WNC.The rest of the country needs to see the damage in the region there. So many small towns from Asheville to Boone are just decimated. Campgrounds that had people staying there washed away. The campers are in the river. The death toll has got to be much higher. Take a crew in on 4x4 if you have to to get to the real story.
